The students will be able to use the key words discuss, wise, review, influence, sense, make sense, by the way, suppose, well-known in real situations. 2. The students will be able to understand Present simple passive. Their works are still read by many people today. We’re still influenced by Confucius’s ideas. The students will be able to understand and use the following: I accept that they’re great because… I suppose he isn’t as well-known as… 重难点 一般现在时的被动语态 教具准备 Multi-media 师生活动过程 设计意图 Step 1 Lead-in 1. Free talk in pairs: Do you like reading? Do you know China’s four great books? What are they? Who is your favourite writer? What’s your favourite book? 2. Look at the pictures in A1, talking about them in pairs and learn some new words and structures. Eg. Confucius: Who is he? Why is he famous? This is Confucius. He is a very wise man. He is famous as a great teacher and thinker. He has many well-known / famous ideas and we’re still influenced by his ideas. Step 2 Listening A2: Read through the sentences and ask them to listen to the conversation about the three great men and complete the sentences. 2. Listen again and check their answers. Call back answers from the class and check them with the class. 2. Listen and check. 3. Pair work. Make a dialogue. Step 3 Listening and reading 1. A3: Read through the sentences with the class. Listen and match the people with the descriptions. Check the answers with class. Read through the sentences by themselves to understand the three famous people better. 2. Listen and imitate reading the conversation. 3. Role read the conversation in pairs and try to understand the everyday English. Step 4 Pronunciation and peaking 1. A5: Read and underline the words the speaker stresses.. Listen and check their guessing. Listen and repeat. 2. Work in groups of six. Do you agree with the following opinions? Give your reasons according to the examples. Report the ideas of your group to the whole class. Most of us think… We think we learn… Step 5 Critical thinking In your opinion, who is the greatest writer and tell us your reasons. Please answer like this: I think … I suppose … I accept … Step 6 Homework Finish off the homework on the Exercise Book A. Listen and answer the questions. Pair work.
