Show some famous people and talk freely. Who are they? Why are they famous? What do you know about them? 2. A1: Work in pairs to talk about Deng Yaping. Then the teacher enriches the information about Deng Yaping. She is a table tennis player. She has won many gold medals. That’s amazing! She completed her doctor’s degree at Cambridge University. 3. Practise the following: Who’s your hero? Why is he / she your hero? Step 2 Listening 1. Show learning to learn to learn listening skills. Listen and choose the correct answers. 2. Listen and answer: Who are the speakers talking about? When was he / she born? When did he / she win the first national competition? Step 3 Listening and reading 1. Listen and answer: 1. Who is Daming’s hero? 2. When did she start playing table tennis? 3. How many gold medals has she won in the Olympics? 2. Listen and complete the table. 3. If students have problems, read the dialogue and complete the table again. 4. Listen and imitate reading the conversation. 5. Role read the conversation in pairs and try to understand the everyday English. Step 4 Enjoy reading 1. Listen and imitate reading the conversation. 2. Role read the converstion in groups of 3 and try to understand the everyday English.
