New Zealand is made up of two main landmasses ,the North Island and South Island ,separated by Cook Strait. New Zealand is similar in size to Japan or British Isles. A massive mountains chain, the
2、Southern Alps runs almost the full length of the South Island.,a. New Zealand is in the southern temperate latitudes. Seasons are opposite to the Northern Hemisphere, with January and February the warmest months and July the coldest. b. The capital city, Wellington, is the south southmost and windie

New Zealands long isolation from other landmasses has allowed the evolution of unique flora and fauna, such as Kiwi.,Environment Issues,Between 750 and 1000 years ago, rats and dogs were introduced to New Zealand. Those animals have affected native fauna and

6、 English is the official language . The New Zealand is the first country to give women rights to vote (in 1893).,Maoritanga means “Maori culture” and embraces the language, customs and traditions. The Treaty of Waitangi(1840) is an important law, and still a part of New Zealand Legal System. In an e
