(the other two are Yueyang Tower in Hunan and Tengwang Tower in Jiangxi)7The Legend of Yellow Crane Tower Legend has it that in Wuchang, there used to be a wine shop opened by a young man named Xin. One day, a Taoist priest, in gratitude for free wine, drew a magic crane on the wall of the shop and instructed it to dance whenever it heard clapping. Thousands of people came to see the spectacle and the wine shop was always full of guests. After 10 years, the Taoist priest revisited the wine shop. He played the flute and then rode on the crane to the sky. In memory of the supernatural encounter and the priest, the Xins built a tower and named it Yellow Crane Tower. 8 According to records, the tower was first built in 223 A.D during the Three Kingdoms period (220-280). At first it was only used for warfairs. After completion, the tower served as a gathering place for celebrities and poets to party and compose poetry. It was estimated that up to the Tongzhi Reign of the Qing dynasty, as many as 300 poems about the tower had been found in historical literature. 9 昔人已乘黄鹤去，此地空余黄鹤楼。

It is located on the She mountain of Wuchang in Hubei province. It was built 1600 years ago and was rebuilt by the government during the year 1981 to 1985. Where the old tower was only 15 meters wide, the ground floor of the new structure was increased to 20 meters wide. Wudang Mountain has 72 peaks with steep valleys and beautiful scenery. The main peak, Tianzhu peak (天柱峰),is 1,612 meters above sea level. 18 Throughout history, federal emperors of every dynasty paid increasingly attention to the creation of buildings on Wudang. The ancient buildings in Wudang Mountain, great in size and beautiful in artistic design, built on the steep hill or in sharp cliffs to achieve a hamonious unity between buildings and nature, has been praised as the ultimate showcase of Chinas ancient buildings and approved world cultural legacy. 19 In the 15th century ,the Ming court sent 300,000 soldiers and workers there to build 33 groups of buildings including monasteries, temples, pavilions and other structures. It took them more than 10 years to complete the construction. in the Ming Dynasty, Wudang mountain was the center of China Taosim. 20212223 Zixiao（紫霄大殿）Palace, located on Tianzhou Peak of the Wudang Mountain ,was built in the year of 1413. It is the best-preserved existing palace in the mountain . The main attractions in the palace include the Dragon and Tiger Hall, the Purple Sky Hall, the East Hall （东宫）,the West Hall（西宫） and the Prince Cliff(太子坡).24The mountain are also linked with martial arts.
