Grammar teaching is a heatedly discussed topic in foreign language teaching circle. Since th

10、e application of CLT in China, grammar teaching has caused more concern than before. This thesis illustrates the necessity of grammar teaching in the theoretical and practical perspectives. In theory, the goal of CLT is to cultivate students communicative competence and grammatical competence is part of it, so CLT does not exclude grammar teaching but include it.
