1、2016 上海外国语大学英语翻硕考研上海外国语大学英语翻硕考研-英汉翻译之要不要重复（英汉翻译之要不要重复（1）在一个汉语句子里或相连的几个句子里，往往有些词或者词组重复出现。有时作为一 种修辞手段，是为了加强语气。但在大多数情况下，重复使用一些词，并没有明显的强调的 意思。这种重复恐怕只能说是汉语行文的习惯了。 英语和汉语相反，在一般情况下是避免重复的。那么，在翻译的过程中，怎样体现这 样的一个特点呢？ 一、译文用代词，或用其他名词代替。 例 1、这就是要倾听人民群众的意见，要联系人民群众，而不要脱离人民群众的道理。 This principle means that we should l
2、isten attentively to the views of the masses, keep in close touch with them and not become alienated from them. 例 2、我们现在有许多做理论工作的干部，但还没有组成理论队伍，尤其是还没有强大 的理论队伍。 At present there are many cadres doing theoretical work, but there is still no corps of theoretical workers, much less a powerful one. 例 3、我们
3、的民族将再也不是一个被人侮辱的民族了， Our will no longer be a nation subject to insult and humiliation. 例 4、艾奇逊们对于舆论的看法，混淆了反动派的舆论和人民的舆论。 In considering public opinion, the Achesons have mixed up the public opinion of the reactionaries with that of the people. 前面两个例子汉语重复名词词组“人民群众” 和“理论队伍” ，后两个例子重复名词“民 族”和“舆论” ，译文都用代词。
4、这是一种最常见的现象。 例 5,、一个地方有一个地方的全局，一个国家有一个国家的全局，一个地球有一个地 球的全局。 Alocality has its own over-all interect, a nation has another and the earth yet another. 例 6、一定的文化（当作观念形态的文化）是一定社会的政治和经济的反映，有给予伟 大影响和作用于一定社会的政治和经济； Any given culture (as an ideological form)is a reflection of the politics and economics of a g
5、iven society, and the former in turn has a tremendous influence and effect upon the latter; 这两个例子用 its own 代替“一个地方” ，用 another 代替“全局” ， 用 the latter 代替 “一定社会的政治和经济” ，句子十分简洁。 例 7、非洲人民正在为争取非洲的彻底解放进行着艰巨的斗争。 The people of Africa are waging a hard struggle to win the complete emancipation of the continent. 此处译文用 the continent, 以避免重复 Africa， 这也是英语里一种表达方式。
