Skill objectives: Guide students to pay attention to visual resources such as pictures and learn to get information from them. Emotional objectives: Enhance the awareness and responsibility of protecting wild species. Thinking quality objectives: Consider the impact of human activity on wild species. 重点 Guide students to use the graph prediction strategy to accurately understand the listening text. 难点 Communicate with classmates in simple English about the survival status and conservation measures of wild animals. 教学过程 教学环节 教师活动 学生活动 设计意图 导入新课 Step1 Leading–in Introduce the topic of endangered wildlife along with related vocabulary and warm up for the activities which follow. Show the unit cover picture and lead the students into the topic by asking questions. (1) What do you think of when you see this photo? Suggested answers: When I see this photo I think about Africa and all the amazing animals that live there. (2) How much do you know about elephants? Suggested answers: Elephants' large ears help them to hear and making them look larger when they are in danger. Their tusks are used for finding food and for protection. Their trunk is a versatile tool which they use for many things including to breathe, smell, pick things up and to suck up water. (3) Do you think that elephants are an endangered species? Suggested answers: African elephants are the world's largest land mammal. All male and female African elephants have tusks whereas only one Asian type does. African elephants also have a larger rounder head than Asian ones. Elephants’ tusks are made of ivory, a material which has historically been a much desired and is the main reason they have been hunted.  (4) What other wild animals are in danger? Suggested answers: The message of these posters is that wildlife is under threat. (2) Which one moves you the most? Why? Suggested answers: The second poster moves me the most because it is very bad that whole species are being lost, and the image of animals falling through an hourglass shows how serious it is and how time is running out to protect these species … step 4 while-listening Listen to the first part and complete the passage in activity 2. Let the students read the passage of activity 2 first, and try to fill in the blanks with appropriate words. At the same time, pay attention to the meaning of the new words. Listen and fill in the blanks. Then check the answers. Answers: wildlife, loss, protect. Tell students they will hear the audio dialogue again without pausing. You can choose the first or second part, or both. Ask them to write down just the key words of the dialogue. They shouldn't write down "little" words such as pronouns, articles, and prepositions. Then in pairs they must compare their notes and reconstruct the original dialogue before reading it to the class. It does not have to be exactly the same, but it must be grammatically correct.
