1、Famous Canadians-Terry Fox-the most famous runner who lost his leg to cancer and decided to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research; he had to quit half way through and died some months later but helped to raise millions of dollars since 1980 until now long after his death Rene Levesque

9、threatening each other over control of the Suez Canal in Egypt- he thought of the idea to have the armies of countries that have nothing to do with the problem go to the Suez Canal and make sure all sides dont fight with each other. 10、sed in many situations in the world to keep two fighting groups from killing each other and Canada has been in this for many conflicts; in 1965 as Prime Minister he made sure Canada had its own flag, the Canadian Maple LeafPierre Trudeau- he became a very popular leader for some but not popular for
11、others as he was in power from 1968-1984; he made bilingualism a law (French and English are to be offered in government and business); he encouraged multiculturalism so people from around the world can enter Canada and still feel good about their past country; he made a law called the War Measures
12、Act to stop the terrorists in Quebec in 1970 which meant people lost their rights for awhile; he fought against Quebec trying to separate and he helped to bring a new constitution to Canada in 1982 called the Charter of Rights and FreedomsBrian Mulroney-he was the Prime Minister from 1984 to 1993; h
13、e was very popular for his first term as he was young and very good in business; he was very close to the American president and signed the free trade agreement so no taxes would be charged to American products coming to Canada or Canadian products going to the US but many Canadians lost their jobs

15、than being the first female leaderJean Chretien-elected in 1993 and helped Canada in the 1990s to become wealthier by cutting services, introducing new taxes and opening up more trade with China and India. -Stephen Harper- he has been the Conservative leader and Prime Minister since 2006; he has a majority in the Canadian Parliament; he wants to cut taxes, stay close to the ideas of the United States, encourage Alberta to dig up more oil to help our economy
