2、anti-war songs is the best example to illustrate the view.An anti-war song is a musical composition that either states anti-war directly, one which the public and/or critics define as having an anti-war theme, or advocates universal peace.Some anti-war songs comment on the aspects of war, while othe

3、rs satirize war. Most promote peace, in some form or another, while others sing out against specific armed conflicts. Still others sing about the physical and psychological destruction that warfare causes to soldiers, innocent civilians, and the human race in general. Many of these songs are conside

4、red protest songs, and some have been embraced by various peace movements and peace activities.I will list some anti-war songs in time order as example to analyze therelationship between the songs and the period to which they belong to.The big battle is a song sung by Johnny cash. The big battle sta

5、nds for American Civil War.The lyric tells us the cruelty of the war.The war brought American catastrophe.People desire peace.From the two, songs which I list as examples,we can see that anti-war songs are closely linked to the period when it was released.What an anti-war song wants to express depen

6、ds on the background.For instance,the big battle was born during American Civil War,so it presented us the what people had suffered from the war.Therefore,music is the voice of the time to which it belongs.Masters of War is a song by Bob Dylan, written over the winter of 196263 and released on the a

7、lbum The Freewheelin Bob Dylan in the spring of 1963. The songs melody was adapted from the traditional Nottamun Town. Dylans lyrics are a protest against the Cold War arms build-up of the early 1960s.On January 17, 1961, President Dwight D. Eisenhower gave his farewell address from the Oval Office.

8、 In this speech, he warned that we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. In an interview, published in USA Today on September 10, 2001 Dylan linked his song to Eisenhowers speech, saying:Masters of War. is suppose

9、d to be a pacifistic song against war. Its not an anti-war song. Its speaking against what Eisenhower was calling a military-industrial complex as he was making his exit from the presidency. That spirit was in the air, and I picked it up.This song has a strong relationship with the period which it b

10、elongs to and this song express the protest against the military-industrial complex.Universal Soldier is a song written and recorded by Canadian singer-songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie. The song was originally released on Sainte-Maries debut album Its My Way! in 1964. Universal Soldier was not a popula

11、r hit at the time of its release, but it did garner attention within the contemporary folk music community. It became a hit a year later when Donovan covered it. Sainte-Marie said of the song: I wrote Universal Soldier in the basement of The Purple Onion coffee house in Toronto in the early sixties.

12、 Its about individual responsibility for war and how the old feudal thinking kills us all.Give Peace a Chance is a song written by John Lennon (originally credited LennonMcCartney), and performed with Yoko Ono in Montreal, Canada. Released as a single in 1969 by the Plastic Ono Band on Apple Records

The U.S. became polarized between those who advocated continued involvement in Vietnam and those who wanted peace. The counterculture of the 1960s refers to an anti-establishment cultural phenomenon

16、 that developed first in the United States and the United Kingdom, and then spread throughout much of the Western world between the early 1960s and the mid-1970s, with London, New York City and later San Francisco being hotbeds of early counter-cultural activity.
