1、2017-2018 学年度中美富布赖特研究学者项目 申请必读 Application Guidance for the Fulbright Visiting Research Scholar Program (VRS) March 4, 2016 The Fulbright Visiting Research Scholar Program (VRS) provides opportunities for established scholars to undertake independent advanced research at U.S. universities in the fie
2、lds of American studies, broadly defined. Ideal candidates are already teaching or researching about some aspect of American Studies in their Chinese academic setting. Fulbright candidates often apply from disciplines in the Social Sciences and Humanities and each field of study must have an extensi
3、ve American Studies component. The grantees return to China and incorporate what they have learned in America into their Chinese classrooms. 富布赖特访问学者项目为 学 术有专攻 的 中 国学者提供在美国大学 从事 独立高 层次的 美国 研究 方面的研修 机会。 最佳 的申请 人 应该 是那些 在中国 大学里 从事 与 美国 研究 专业 相关 的教学或研究工作 的学术人员 。 他们 所 从事的 教学和 研究 工作属于 社会科学和人文科学 领域 ， 但 应
4、该 包含有大量的 美国 研究 专业内容 。富布赖特访问学者 回国后 应 该 将 其 在美国所得的收获 运用到 中国 的 课堂 教学 之 中。 The Fulbright VRS program provides the opportunity for the grantees to travel to the U.S. not only for the purpose of academic research, but also to learn more about the country, its people and its culture through direct interact
5、ion with Americans in order to better teach about the U.S. upon their return to China. VRS grantees contribute to improved understanding of the U.S. by publishing research results, developing undergraduate and graduate curricula, and expanding faculty expertise within American Studies programs at Ch
6、inese institutions. The proposed research should indicate
8、potential contribution to this goal in a particular field of American Studies. 中美富布赖特项目的主要目标是增进 中美双方的相互理解。 申请人在美国研究领域中所选的具体 研究课题应该 对这 一 目标 有 潜在 的 贡献。 Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of China, must be in good health, and must be able to leave their home institutions for a ten-month
9、 period to participate in the program starting from September each year. 申请人必须是中国公民，身体健康，能从 9 月开始脱 产 离 开 所在 中方 院校 10 个月参加该项目。 Applicants should be mid-career or senior faculty members who hold the professional rank of at least associate professor in the field of American Studies. 申请人应是在美国研究领域 中具有 副教
10、授 及 以上 职称的 大学 教师。 Preference will be given to candidates who are “Americanists”: those who teach and research about America; its ways, institutions, history, etc. Candidates from universities with centers of American Studies, or courses that cover American Studies, are strongly encouraged to apply.

12、学 者项目资助的或没有在美国长期学习或工作 过 的申请人 将 给予 优先 考虑 。 Applicant research will be in the field of American Studies, writ large: Fulbright candidates apply from disciplines in the Social Sciences and Humanities, so they can do research on specific aspects of America. For example, American History, American Govern
13、ment and Politics, U.S. Foreign Policy, American Literature, American Music, Philosophy, Education, Public Administration/Public Policy, Social Work, Public Health, Art History, Sociology and Culture, Theater, Urban planning, Journalism, Law, Environmental Studies, Information Science, etc. 申请人的研究领域

15、 do research on the American system and be able to articulate ways they can return and incorporate this into their Chinese classroom setting. In some fields, such as American Literature or American History, almost all research areas will by definition meet the American Studies requirement. But in other fields, such as linguistics, economics, philosophy, informat
