43、lipsis省略是为了避免重复、突出新信息并使上下文紧密连接的一种语法修辞手段。省略在语言中，尤其在对话中，是一种十分普遍的现象。英语中有一些固定的省略结构：a)在以if,when,though,asif（好像）等连词引导的从句中，如从句中的主要动词是be，常将主语和动词be省略。Ifnecessary,weshallsendatelegramhome.如有必要，我们就往家里打电报。Wheneverpossible,hewillcometomyhelp.他一有可能就来帮助我。Whilecycling,dontforgetthetrafficlights.骑车时，不要忘记看红绿灯。b)由固定词组
44、引导的疑问句：Whatabouthavingagameofchess?下盘棋怎么样？Howcometheyleftyoualonehere?他们怎么会把你一人留在这里呢？Whatifitsraining?如果天下雨怎么办？c)在口语中，为了避免重复，不定式可以省去和句子前部重复的动词原形而只留下不定式符号to。Hemayleaveifhewishesto.他可以走，如果他愿意的话。DontgotillItellyouto.等我叫你走你再走。InversionInversion主语和谓语是句子的核心，它们之间有两种语序：一是主语在谓语之前称为自然语序（NaturalOrder）；二是主语在谓语之
45、后则称为倒装语序（InvertedOrder）。倒装语序中又有完全倒装（FullInversion）和部分倒装（PartialInversion）完全倒装（FullInversion）:又称“全部倒装”,是指将句子中的谓语动词全部置于主语之前。此结构通常只用与一般现在时和一般过去时。部分倒装（PartialInversion）:指将谓语的一部分如助动词或情态动词倒装至主语之前,而谓语动词无变化。如果句中的谓语没有助动词或情态动词，则需添加助动词do,does或did，并将其置于主语之前。英语句子的倒装一是由于语法结构的需要而进行的倒装,二是由于修辞的需要而进行的倒装。前一种情况,倒装是必须的,
46、否则就会出现语法错误;后一种情况,倒装是选择性的,倒装与否只会产生表达效果上的差异。倒装的几种情况1.当句首状语为否定词或带有否定意义词语时，一般引起部分倒装。常用的词语有：never，scarcely，hardly，barely，rarely，seldom，little，nowhere，bynomeans(决不)，atnotime(在任何时候决不)，iflundernocircumstancesf决不)，onnocondition，onnoaccount，innoway，innocase(决不)，nolonger，nomore等。例如：InnocasehaveInotnoticedthatp
