8、eference books. At the same time, the average expenditure on English materials has increased from 60 yuan in the early 1990s to 170 yuan in 2009. From Diagram Two, we can see students attitudes towards these materials vary. Some students think it beneficial to buy such materials because they are goo

9、d additions to what has been learned in class. Further more, students can strengthen their ability of teaching themselves. On the other hand, other students think much money and energy are wasted in purchasing and using these materials, which also disturbs students regular school studies. Personally

10、, it can be concluded that many students are more aware of the importance of learning English, and provided with more chances, they are willing to spend more money on it. but we should be cautious about our choices and make proper use of the materials chosen. Only in this way can these materials function as an after-class helper.
