Review the Attributive Clause引导定语从句的关系代词有:that ,who ,whom ,whose ,which , as等。关系代词在定语从句中有三个作用:1. 引导一个定语从句; 2.在从句中代替先行词;3.在从句中担任某一句子成份1先行词是人时的三种情况:1)先行词是人, 从句中缺少主语时, 用who或that作从句的主语。 注:当先行词是one, ones, anybody, an

5、yone, all, none, those 等, 指人时一般用who,不用that. Those who want to go to the cinema will have to wait at the gate of the school.Notes: 在以疑问词who或which开头的句子中, 或关系代词在从句中作表语时, 用that, 不用who。Who is the man that is shouting there?She is not the girl that she used to be.2)先行词是人,从句中缺动词宾语或介词宾语时,用whom或that(介词后不用tha

6、t)。The teacher wants to return the book to the girl from whom he borrowed it.He is the student (whom, who ,that) you want to see.注:关系代词that, which ,whom 在从句中作宾语时可省略掉。但放在介词后面时则不可省略。如上面第一句from后面的whom就不能省略。3)先行词是人,从句中缺少定语时,用 whose。Do you know the boy whose parents are on holiday?2. 先行词是物时的四种情况:1)先行词是物,

7、 从句中缺少主语时, 用that, which。Youd better not drink water which /that has not been boiled.2)先行词是物, 从句中缺少动词宾语或介词宾语时, 用which或 that。注意介词后不用that。This is the house in which once Lu Xun lived .This is the house (which/that) once Lu Xun lived in.3)先行词是物,且从句中缺少定语时,用whose或the+名词+of which 的结构。We study in the classr

8、oom whose door /the door of which faces south.3.下列情况下, 只用that, 不用which引导定语从句。1)先行词是不定代词, 如all, little, few, much, anything, everything, nothing, none, no one, some 等。Is there anything that you want?2)先行词被all, every, no, some, little, few, much, one of , the only, the very, the right, last, next, onl

9、y, very等所修饰时。The only thing that he remembered was her name.3)先行词前有序数词或形容词最高级修饰时。This is the first film that Ive seen since I came here.4)先行词中既有人又有物时。They talked about the teachers and the things(that) they remembered in the school.Step 3 Do the following exercise.
