1、Test PlanThe process, which will be used to test a website, should be thoroughly documented in a test plan. This document may be used as a template for the development of a test plan, which can be customized to meet the specific requirements of the site you are testing. I. ApproachThis section shoul
2、d contain an overview of the test approach you intend to use. The test approach answers in a nutshell, how, when and where the site will be tested. A. How will the site be tested?Manually or with an automated test tool? If testing manually, what will QA use as a baseline to verify that content and f
3、unctionality conform to design specifications? If a defect is discovered what defect tracking system will QA use to record and track it? How will QA inform Development of the defect? And once Development has resolved it, how will they inform QA that a retest is required?B. Who will test the site?Are
4、 dedicated fulltime QA resources assigned to this task? How many testers are required to adequately test the site within a realistic time frame? What are the minimum qualifications required of a Quality Assurance tester. Does testing this site require any special skills or experience?C. Where will t
5、he site be tested?Is there a dedicated test lab or similar environment where testing will be performed? Is the designated test location equipped with the software/hardware resources required to test the site? For example, if the site specifications state that it operates on the Mac OS using Netscape
6、 Navigator 3.0, is there a computer which meets those system requirements available at the test location?D. When will the site be tested?What triggers a test event? Does testing coincide with Developments release schedule or is testing sporadic, whenever a bug fix or system enhancement requires veri
7、fication? E. What types of testing will be performed?In addition to basic functional testing you may want to conduct Performance testing of the system. This process evaluates how long it takes to perform specific actions on the site, such as loading the homepage. Load testing should be conducted to
8、determine as closely as possible, how many users the site can withstand before it is negatively impacted. If the website allows for date-related user input Year 2000 compliance testing may also be required. II. Test ItemsThis section should contain a comprehensive list of the features, which are to
9、be tested. Note: the list below is intended as a guideline. If the site you are testing contains additional content or functionality you should add it to the Test Items list.A. Navigational Bar/Site mapDoes the page include a Navigational Bar or Site Map? Does each link direct the user to where it s
10、ays it does? If so, can the user return to the previous page? Is the Navigational Bar present on each page? Is it consistent? Does each link work on every page? Is the navigational flow intuitive?B. TextAre spelling, punctuation, grammar and syntax correct? Is the text readable? Is text formatted co
11、nsistently, on the page and across the site? Do text links function correctly? Is text aligned correctly?C. ImagesDoes the image display? Is the correct image displayed? Is the image clear? Has image content and placement been checked against the deck? Do image links function correctly? Does image l
12、oad time compromise the sites usability.D. TablesDoes the page include any tables? Is the information displayed readable? Are columns wide enough or does text wrap around? Are rows too high? If the table contains scroll bars do they function correctly?E. LinksDo links direct the user to the correct
13、page? Is the page you are linking to found? Can users return to the previous page? Is the color of text link correct? Do active and visited links change color? If so, is color correct? F. FormsWhat is valid/invalid input for text areas? Do text areas accept valid input? Do they accept invalid input?
14、 Are character limitation rules enforced? Do Submit and Reset buttons function? Can only one option box be selected from a group? Do check boxes, list boxes, drop down menus, scroll bars and arrows function correctly?G. Data verificationIs user input verified against business rules? If so, is verifi
15、cation performed as specified in the Logic Flow? H. Error HandlingDoes Error Handling perform as specified in the Error Trapping Matrix? I. Operating systemsWhat are the operating system requirements for the site? Is the site optimized for a specific operating system(s)?J. Browser ConfigurationsWhat
16、 specific browsers, if any, is the site designed for? Is it optimized for a particular browser(s)? How many separate browser configurations are required for testing? Do browser defaults require certain settings for site to operate properly?K. PrintingDoes the page allow for printing? If so, do you know the specifications? Are printed pages formatted correctly? Does all
