2、cision machining of screw rotors, a new grinding method for screw rotors using cubic boron nitride (CBN) grinding wheel is presented in this paper. First, the screw rotor was ground using a small electroplated CBN grinding wheel. The accurate model of the axial profile of the CBN grinding wheel was

3、developed based on the gear meshing theory. Taking into account the gap between the screw rotor and the coating thickness, the dressing of the active grinding wheel introduces the CBN grinding wheel design method. The shape of active grinding wheel adopts low-speed WEDM (low-speed wire cutting machi

4、ne) to process the machining line. The forming tool of CBN active grinding wheel adopts low-speed wire cutting machine for cutting. The CBN screw rotor grinding wheel adopts the principle proposed in this paper for effectiveness. Verification of correctness. The data obtained in the experiments reac

9、ew rotors are a key part of screw compressors, screws, shredders and screw pumps. The machining accuracy of the rotor determines the mechanical properties. In general, milling cutters are used to machine spiral rotors. Many researchers, such as Xiao et al. 1 and Yao et al. 2, have done a lot of work

10、 on the use of milling cutters to process spiral rotors. This method can improve processing efficiency. However, the low processing accuracy and low surface roughness are its main drawbacks. With the development of high technology, some new processing technologies have been used to manufacture spira

11、l rotors. The forming grinding method proposed by the Holloyd industry in the United Kingdom 3 in 1997 provided a new shaping system for forming grinding lines, spirals, worm drives, etc. 4 The system uses a combination hob to process the screw rotor. Here are some other methods of machining screw r

12、otors 5,6.As an effective precision grinding method, (CBN) grinding wheels have been widely used in the industry for several decades and have produced very good results. Kagra and Evans 7 and Upadschiya 8 as well as Pavel and Srivastava 9 analyzed the advantages of this technique as follows:(1) CBN

13、wheel wheels have high accuracy, consistency, and high wear resistance, and the grinding wheel does not need to be trimmed throughout the grinding process.(2) For a workpiece with a high-precision contour.(3) It has excellent grinding performance and effectively avoids tooth surface burns or cracks.

14、 (4) With high productivity, the structure of the grinder is very simple. For CBN grinding wheels, no wheel dressing and grinding compensation is required during the entire grinding process. According to the inspection data of the national efficient grinding state, high abrasive grains can be obtain

15、ed using highly efficient abrasive grains. In most studies of CBN profile grinding 11,12 the material properties are emphasized. In order to avoid thermal damage to the workpiece and develop a new type of cubic boron nitride grinding wheel, Tan Shaofu et al. 13 developed a temperature model based on

16、 the workpiece surface grinding parameters to predict the residual stress. Jackson et al. 14 studied the basic mechanism and dedicated CBN grinding wheel for high-speed grinding technology. They proposed the development of high-speed cutting related technologies, grinding machines and grinding tools also need to adapt to high-speed machining and processing of the workpiece. Ding et al
