2、ure,wehavelivedhappilyforalongtime.Andwestartedtogaineverythingavailablefromthenature.Andthislastedsolongatime.Today,peoplehavediscoveredthatthenaturearoundisgettingworseandworse.Whatisthreateningthenature?Airandwaterpollution,overharvestingofplantandanimalspecies,overpopulationandsoon.Overpopulatio
3、nisthebiggestsourceofpollution.Letstakeoverpopulationasanexample.Whatdoesoverpopulationfeellike?Whenwemoveslowlythroughthecityinatazi.Whenweenteracrowdedslumdistrict.Whenthetemperatureishighandwhentheairisthickwithdustandsmoke.Thestreetsarecrowdedwithpeople.Thestreetsseemalivewithpeople.Peopleeating
4、.Peoplewashing.Peopletalking.Peoplesleeping.Peoplevisitingeachother,arguingandscreaming.Peoplerelievingthemselves.Peoplepushingtheirhandsthroughthetaxiwindows,begging.Peopleleadinganimals.People,people,people,people.Aswedriveslowlythroughthecrowd,soundingthetaxishorn,tst,heat,noiseandcookingfiresmad
5、eitlikeascenefromhell!Iadmit,frightening.Tothenature,overpopulationisabigproblem.Morepeople,morepollution.Andthebigpopulationisthreateningthenatureeverysecond.Therapidriseinworldpopulationisnotcreatingproblemsonlyforthedevelopingcountries.Thewholeworldfacestheproblemthatrawmaterialsarebeingupataninc
6、reasingrateandfoodproductioncannotkeepupwiththepopulationincrease.Peopleinrichcountriesmaketheheaviestdemandsontheworldsresources,itsfood,fuelandland,andcausethemostpollution.AbabybornintheUnitedStateswilluseinhislifetime30timesmoreoftheworldsresourcesthanababyborninIndia.Unlessallthecountriesofthew
7、orldtakeunitedactiontodealwiththepopulationexplosiontherewillbemoreandmorepeoplefightingforashareoflessandlessland,foodandfuel,andthefuturewillbringpoverty,miseryandwartousall.Formostofthedevelopingcountries,itisagoodideatocontrolthepopulationgrowth.Forexample,Chinahascarriedoutbirthcontrolforyears.
8、Andthisplanhasagreateffectontheworldpopulation.Ifthepopulationcontinuestoincrease,iftheairandwatercontinuetobepolluted,ifwedontdosomethingtoprotectwild-plantandwildlifespecieswillbedeclining.Speciesandbiologicalmunitieshavedifficultyadaptingtochange.Economicopportunitiesandthequalityoflifeoffuturege
9、nerationsarealsoputatrisk.Byprotectingnature,weprotectourselves.Letsunitetogether,handinhandwestandallacrosstheland.Wecanmakethisworldinwhichtolive.Handinhand.Controlthepopulationgrowth.Takegoodcareofournature.
