What does the example of Indian illustrate? The author quote

、s the example of our ancestors to show that education emerged _. Science, in practice, depends far less on the experiments it prepares than on the preparedness of the minds of the men who watch the experiments. Sir Isaac Newton supposedly discovered gravity through

、 the fall of an apple. Apples had been falling in many places for centuries and thousands of people had seen them fall. But Newton for years had been curious about the cause of the orbital motion of the moon and planets. What kept them in place? Why didnt they fall out of the sky? The fact that the

、apple fell down toward the earth and not up into the tree answered the question he had been asking himself about those larger fruits of the heavens, the moon and the planets.题干:The author wants to prove with the example of Isaac Newton that _. A inquiring minds are more important than scientific exp

、eriments B science advances when fruitful researches are conducted C scientists seldom forget the essential nature of research D unpredictability weighs less than prediction in scientific research解析:题干出现example标志是例证题,问作者想用牛顿的例子证明什么?

Science, in practice, depends far less on the experiments it prepares than on the preparedness of the minds of the men who watch the experiments. 强调人的头脑的重要性,所以匹配的答案是A选项inquiring minds are more important

The word “gizmos” (Line 1, Paragraph 2) most probably means _. By saying “Stratford crie

、s poor traditionally”, the author implies that_. As a result, the modern world is increasingly populated by intelligent gizmos whose presence we barely notice but whose universal existence has removed much human labor. Our factories hum to the rhythm of robot assembly arms.

、Our banking is done at automated teller terminals that thank us with mechanical politeness for the transaction. Our subway trains are controlled by tireless robot-drivers.题干:The word “gizmos” most probably means _.A programs B experts C devices D creatures解析: 题目要求猜测首句中“gizmos”的含义,根据首句中的定语从句whose pre

、sence we barely notice but whose universal existence has removed much human labor. Our factories hum to the rhythm of robot assembly arms. Our banking is done at automated teller terminals that thank us with me

、chanical politeness for the transaction. Our subway trains are controlled by tireless robot-drivers.

The relationship between formal education and economic growth in poor countries is widely misunderstoo

、d by economists and politicians alike. Progress in both area is undoubtedly necessary for the social, political and intellectual development of these and all other societies; however, the conventional view that education should be one of the very highest priorities for promoting rapid economic devel

、opment in poor countries is wrong. We are fortunate that it is, because building new educational systems there and putting enough people through them to improve economic performance would require two or three generations.题干:The author holds that the importance of education in poor countries_.A is su

、bject to groundless doubtsB has fallen victim of biasC is conventional downgradedD has been overestimated解析:首先依据题干关键词the importance of education in poor countries定位到第一句The relationship between formal education and economic growth in poor countries is widely misunderstood,但是仔细研读后发现“贫穷国家中正规教育与经济发展之间的关

继续定位到第三句however, the conventional view that education should be one of the very highest priorities for promoting rapid economic development in poor countries is wrong.
