American anthropologist and linguist Edward Sapir once said:“Language reflects the terms of its culture faithfully more or less.” Another two American linguists M. Ember and C. Ember said: “A social language can reflect its corresponding culture a
9、nd one of the ways is reflected in vocabulary systems.” Those show that the vocabulary systems of a language contract with national historical, cultural, thinking ways and values inextricably. Acting as the essence of the language, idioms also reflect their cultural merits, with a profound thoughtfu
10、lness under a deep national surface. Idioms usually contain proverbs, slang, saying and so on. Among all languages, Chinese and English respectively breeds with idioms in national colors by the colorful culture resulted from their long histories and their characteristics. Idioms with dog both in Chi
11、nese and English have rich national cultural meanings and become a most special part of Chinese and English cultures. Western people always think of the dog as a faithful friend. So, most of the English with dog are commendatory. On the contrary, in Chinese dog is a symbol of a minion. Consequently,

Because different countries, different nationalities, and its geographical position, historical background, religious belief formed a unique way of life styles, national traditions and customs. Due to different countries, different ethnic cultures exi
