3、 village situated about 50 km southwest of Beijing In 1928, Dr C. C. Young, a famous Chinese paleontologist, and Wenzhong Pei, a young Chinese geologist joined the excavation. Two lower jaws of Peking Man were unearthed in this year. To make the excavation more successful, Dr Weng and Dr Black estab

4、lished Cenozoic Research Laboratory in 1929.The Peking Man Site also provides the more precise scientific data for the study of the evolution, behaviour,On the western side of Zhoukoudian Village, there are two parallel hills. The one on the east is lower and called Dragon-bone Hill.Tithe archaeolog

5、ists have found human and animal bones in those caves. So they think it is reasonable to assume they lived in these caves regardless of the cold. They also discovered fireplaces in the center of the caves where Peking man constructed fires. That would have kept them warm, cooked the food and scared

6、wild animals away as well; Peking man might have hung animal skins at rhea cave mouth to keep out the cold. Peking Man used needle to repair or sew things. The needle is made of bone. Peking Man used special ways to make the hole for the thread. They also made their own clothes entirely of animal sk

7、ins. They might have used sharpened stone tools to cup up the animals and remove fat or skins. Then smaller scraper might have been used to clean the fat and meat from them. Peking Man also cared about their appearance. They wore necklace made of seashells. Some of the necklace beads are made of ani

8、mal bones but some are made of shells, which shows us that all the fields around here used to be part of a large shallow lake. Perhaps there was trade between early people or they traveled to the seaside on their journeys. Step II Leading inAsk the students to pit out the sentences that contain the
