She died in 1886.Her father was a busy and successful lawyer. He was very strict with Emily. On one hand, she r

2、espected her father and wanted to be his pride. But on the other hand, she was independently minded and dared to say No. Her mother was an ordinary housewife. In Emilys mind, her mother was timid and overcautious. To some extent, she looked down upon her mother. Because of her discomfort and shyness

3、 in social situations or maybe because of her disappointing love affair, Emily gradually reduced her social contacts, going out less and less into society. After 1862, she became a total recluse. Besides, she was only dressed in white. However, despite the physical seclusion, Emily maintained writte

4、n contact with a variety of people and she read a lot Her decision to live life as a recluse did not close her mind, but in many ways allowed the flow of new thoughts and inner experiences.Despite Emilys seclusion or maybe thanks to her seclusion, she became one of Americas greatest poets. She didnt

5、 care about forms or conventional rules of writing poems, neither titling nor dating her poems. She never wanted to publish her poems. In fact she had only 7 of her poems published during her lifetime. But the themes of her poetry vary among death, love, religion, nature and eternity. She explores t

6、he inner life of the individual and painted the landscape of the soul. She writes those things so brilliantly that she is now ranked as one of Americas greatest poets.
