All other minerals and coal on or below the surface of land ar
3、e also the property of the Crown, with minor exceptions.Any eligible person can undertake exploration and mining in Queensland and the owners of producing mines pay a royalty to the Government.In Queensland, an Exploration Permit is issued for the purpose of exploring for any mineral to which the pe
4、rmit applies, in respect of any land to which the permit applies. The Act provides for the assessment, developm
6、ent and utilisation of mineral resources to the maximum extent practicable consistent with sound economic and land use management. The principal objectives of the Act are: (a)encourage and facilitate prospecting and exploring for and mining of minerals; (b)enhance knowledge of the mineral resources
7、of the State; (c)minimize land use conflict with respect to prospecting, exploring and mining; (d)encourage environmental responsibility in prospecting, exploring and mining; (e)ensure an appropriate financial return to the State from mining; (f)provide an administrative framework to expedite and re
8、gulate prospecting and exploring for and mining of minerals; (g)encourage responsible land care management in prospecting, exploring and mining.The grant of an exploration permit, is undertaken with these objectives in mind so as to encourage and ensure performance oriented and competent exploration

An exploration permit allows you to undertake a range of bona-fide exploration activities. Activities include geophysical surveys, field mapping, surface
11、 sampling, costeaning and drilling (but does not include drilling for water). Bulk sampling requires specific approval and is usually only allowable under a Mineral Development Licence. Production and sale of mineral (mining) is not permitted.An exploration permit for minerals also entitles you to e
12、xplore for the existence of uranium however, you should be aware that it is a policy of this Government that it will not grant mining tenure for the purpose of mining uranium in Queensland. Legislation prohib
14、its exploration and mining in national parks, world heritage listed areas and in some Restricted Areas (as defined in the Mineral Resources Regulation 2003). There are constraints on exploration in other areas such as Reserves, State Forests, Aboriginal Freehold land and Wild Rivers. In some instanc
15、es, consent of the owners is required for entry.
