After that, I got a scholarship to study in management school of Liverpool University. So I went to UK. In the
2、 last month of 2011, I finished my overall courses in liverpool university successfully and got the master degree of science in Human Resource Management.After graduation, I worked in Beijing New oriental School as a senior course consultant. As usual, one meaning may be expressed in various ways. At the word level, for example, if we want to express such an idea
6、as “教室的第一排还有 3 个空座”, we may air our views as follows if we are at middle school, “There are still 3 empty seats in the first row of the classroom.” But we are college students now, and we should improve our English level in expression. Think about it, and we may speak our minds like the following se
7、ntences: 3 seats in the first row of the classroom are still not occupied. 3 seats in the first row of the classroom are still available to us. These two expressions sound more idiomatic than the the first one. Ok,next now well discuss how to modify our expressions at the sentence level. In this cla
8、ss, we will talk about an useful phrase, that is, “in other words”.2Step 2 Interpretation in detail (第二步：授课详解第二步：授课详解) “In other words”, to put it simply, it means to demonstrate our viewpoints in a simpler and more understandable way. You may summarize your viewpoint or explain your viewpoint in an
9、 easier and more approachable way, just to make your readers comprehend easily your arguments. For example, if you quote an English proverb in your writing and you are not sure whether your readers could catch on what you are heading for, you may use this phrase, “in other words” to explain it. An E
10、nglish proverb says: “Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.” In other words, good habits benefit us a lot. (Explain) Here, we use “good habits benefit us a lot” to summarize and explain the proverb we quoted. Another example, It is quite clear that English has become
11、an international language because it has been used by most of the nations in the world. In other words, you may make a trip around the world without being misunderstood if you know English. (Exemplify) Here, we use an example to illustrate the viewpoint that we have mentioned in the former part of t
12、he sentence. Step 3 Drill for consolidation (第三步：巩固练习第三步：巩固练习) Please complete the following exercises according to your understanding. Exercise 1 Generally speaking, men who possess knowledge are more powerful than those without knowledge. In other words, _. (参考答案：the educated class always plays a
