1、ABOUT BP DEBATEMade by Suka What is BP Debate?The definition of BP debate BP is the abbreviation of British Parliamentary. And it is designed following the example of British Parliamentary as a generic form of debate, which is now used by the widest audiences worldwide. And the WUDC and the China Op
2、en both use it. How is the debate organized? Four teams of two debaters participate in each British Parliamentary debate round. The teams supporting the motion are referred to as the Proposition. The teams arguing against the motion are known as the Opposition teams. Two teams represent the Proposit
3、ion: the Opening Proposition and the Closing Proposition. Two teams represent the Opposition: the Opening Opposition and the Closing Opposition. Each of these teams competes against all other teams in the round and will be ranked 1st through 4th at the conclusion of the debate. The elements of BP De
4、bateHowever, what is motion? Simply speaking, it means a controversial pseudo policy that hasnt been carried out. And it has 3 forms: 1.THW:this house would 2.THBT:this house believes that 3.THR:this house regrets E.g.: This House would significantly increase the tax on the rich. This House Believes
5、 That China should prohibit selling and production of traditional medicine made from protected animals. Generally, the motion will be announced 15-20 minutes before the debate. And the 2 debaters and the lead teachers are only allowed to bring their kindles , books and dictionaries.And what is POI ?
6、 Its the abbreviation of Point of Information. When a debater is explaining his ideas from his 2nd minute to his 6th minute , other debater who has any questions or wants to disprove him can raise his hand to ask the speaking debater . And the question or the rebuttal means POI. The speaking debater
7、 can choose to answer or not. The questioning debater should make his POI to the point and significant . Besides , he should make his POI less than 15 seconds. And what are the roles the debaters play?Whatre their duties? 1.Prime Minister 2.Leader of the Opposition 3.Deputy Prime Minister 4. Deputy
8、Leader of the Opposition 5.Member of the Government 6.Member of the Opposition 7.Government Whip 8.Opposition WhipPrime Minister Lay a solid foundation for the whole debate. Explain what the motion is about and make it clear what can be associated from the motion. And then illustrate why the motion
9、is raised. (It usually takes 1-2 minutes) Put on some opinions about how the government can make some progress. And then show the way that the government can use in solving the problem this motion suggested. (It usually takes 5-6 minutes) Leader of the Opposition Straightly be diametrically opposed
10、to the PM and refuted him . Clearly conduct a rebuttal and speak out your opinions.(It usually takes 1-2 minutes) Enumerate several examples to deeply explain your ideas and then disprove the PM more effectively. (It usually takes 5-6 minutes) Deputy Prime Minister / Deputy Leader of the Government
11、Straightly be diametrically opposed to the DPM and refuted him by extending the LOs opinions. Clearly conduct a rebuttal and speak out your opinions.(It usually takes 1-2 minutes) Enumerate several examples to deeply explain your ideas and then disprove the DPM more effectively. (It usually takes 5-
12、6 minutes) Deputy Leader of the Opposition Straightly be diametrically opposed to the DPM/DLG and refuted him by extending the LOs opinions. Clearly conduct a rebuttal and speak out your opinions.(It usually takes 1-2 minutes) Enumerate several examples to deeply explain your ideas and then disprove

(It usually takes 5-6 minutes) Member of the Government Properly show the standpoint against the opposition and then spend most of the time raising some opinions that are different from the former to support the motion. Clearly conduct a rebuttal and speak out your opi

(It usually takes 5-6 minutes) Member of the Opposition Properly show the standpoint against the Government and then spend most of the time raising some opinions that are different from the former to dispro
