5、rected temporarily for the portal beam construction of TD1 decking. The construction sequence and methods to be employed are outlined in the method statement. The plants and equipments to be employed for the works, and related safety and environmental concerns are also involved.2.0 Scope of works2.1

6、 LocationThe footings to be built are along the two sides of eastbound Lung Mum Road. The designed location of each footing is determined by the existing utilities underground, especially 132kV high voltage cables. The actual position and dimension of each footing might be adjusted on site to suit t

7、he existing utilities. The engineer shall c

10、heck the location before any excavation works start, making sure it meets the design intentions.3.2 Preparation worksa) Clear the area of the designated for footing properly. Relocate the water filled barriers when necessary, but in any case the water barriers shall not invade into the road markings

11、 of the carriageway.b) Partly divert the passenger footpath, keep the footpath in tidy with a minimum width of 1.2m. c) Provide adequate barriers and warning sign/tags at the accesses to prevent public other than site personnel from entering the site.3.3 Trial Trench Excavationa) Two trenches from b

12、oth ends of the footing, with the size of 0.5m wide, 1.5m long and 1.5m deep shall be dug firstly by hand. b) Electric breakers shall be used if the surface of the trench consists of man-made hard material (e.g. concrete, shotcrete, etc.).c) When UU is found within the trial trench, the UU shall be

13、identified and protected properly.d) Material excavated from the trenches shall be properly stockpiled and covered over.e) The excavation should be completed in a period as short as possible to avoid water accumulating in the trench in case of raining.3.4 Excavation and Lateral Supporta) The excavat

14、ion of footing shall be cut vertically manually or by light machinery. b) When support of excavation is needed, installation of timber boards, excavation and insertion of walings and struts shall proceed by stages until the full excavation depth is achieved.c) Machinery should be used with caution,

15、to prevent instability or movement of road base of adjacent pavement. Operation shall be stopped immediately when any signs of excessive instability or movement are observed. Investigation and strengthening works shall be carried out before resumption of excavation works.d) The material excavated shall be safely stockpiled for reuse or removal and
