1、Unit10nolonger的用法Wehavedecidedtoeachsellfivethingsthatwenolongeruse.我们决定每个人出售五件我们不再使用的东西。(P75)1.no longer意为“不再”,通常放在行为动词的前面,be动词的后面。no longer可用not.any longer代替。例如:After her father died,she no longer went to school.=After her father died,she didnt go to school any longer.她的父亲去世后,她就不再上学了。2.no more/not
2、.any more与no longer/not.any longer同义,但用法有所区别,当涉及数量和程度时,要用no more/not.any more。例如:There is no more bread.没有面包了。tobehonest的用法.but,tobehonest,Ihavenotplayedforawhilenow.但是,说实在的,我现在已经有一段时间没玩了。(P75)1.to be honest是不定式短语作插入语,意为“老实说,说实在的”。类似短语有:to tell (you) the truth“说实话”,to be frank“坦率地说”。例如:To be honest,
3、you cant pass the exam.老实说,你不能通过这次考试。2.honest的同根词:词条词性含义词缀honestlyadv.诚实地-ly是副词后缀honestyn.诚实-y是名词后缀dishonestadj.不诚实的dis-是否定前缀3.honest虽然以辅音字母h开头,但h不发音,所以honest仍然是以元音音素开头的词,故其前的不定冠词用an。例如:Everybody trusts him because he is an honest person.每个人都信任他,因为他是个诚实的人。search的用法Nowadays,millionsofChineseleavethec
4、ountrysidetosearchforworkinthecities.现在,数以百万计的中国人离开农村去城市里找工作。(P78)search是不及物动词,意为“搜寻;搜查”。search还可以作及物动词。例如:After we had landed,the plane was searched thoroughly.我们降落之后,飞机被彻底搜查过了。辨析search,searchfor与search.forsearch作动词时,意为“搜查,搜寻”,是及物动词,后面直接跟“被搜的对象”search for当没有“被搜的对象”只有“寻找的目标”时,则用search forsearch.for若表示搜查某一对象的目的是要找某物时,要用search.for,强调有具体搜查对象且有具体的寻找目标consider的用法consider作动词,意为“考虑;思考”时,其后可直接接名词或动名词形式,即consider (doing) sth.意为“考虑(做)某事”。例如:We must consider the final results.我们必须考虑到最终的结果。They are considering traveling to Europe.他们正考虑去欧洲旅游。2
