8、来的？(代词作宾语则只能用send sth. /sb. to sb. 这种结构)(2)注意与send有关的几个词组。如：send for 派人去请He is very ill, you must send for a doctor at once.他病得很严重, 你必须立刻派人去请医生。send away 撵走；开除；解雇Why did the boys teacher send him away from school? 为什么这个孩子的老师把他从学校里撵走？send up发射；发出；把送上去We have sent up many man-made satellites into the
9、space.我们已经向太空发射了许多人造卫星。8. receive/risi:v/v. (received/risi:vd/; receiving/risi:viN/)接收；收到；得到Most countries use these satellites to send and receive messages.大多数国家用这些卫星来收发信息。I received a beautiful present on Teachers Day.我在教师节这天收到一件漂亮的礼物。My speech was well received. 我的演讲大受欢迎。receive a letter from sb.
10、 收到某人的来信I received a letter from my father yesterday.昨天我收到了我父亲的一封来信。9. shut/FQt/ (shut, shut, shutting)v. 关(门等)；把(盖上)All the computers must be shut down when you leave.当你离开时所有的电脑必须关上。Shut the door after you, please. 请随手关门。You should shut your mouth. 你应该闭嘴。We shouldnt shut our eyes to the facts.我们不该闭
11、眼不看事实。All the shops were shut. 商店都打烊了。shut down把关上；(夜等)降临；(雾等)浓起来She shut down the lid of a box just now. 她刚才关上了箱盖。The night shut down early. 天黑得早。辨析：shut, close与turn off的用法这三个词都有“关上”的意思。(1)shut一般可与close通用, 指“关上门(窗)等”。如：“把门关上”可以说：Shut the door. 或Close the door. 但要说“把他关在门外”一般只能用“Shut him out. ”(2)tur
12、n off多用来表示“关上电灯、电视机、煤气、水龙”等, 一般通过旋纽开关的都可以用此短语。如：Please turn off the TV set. 请把电视机关掉。The radio is too noisy. Youd better turn it off.收音机太吵了, 你最好关上它。turn off是动词+副词结构, 所以代词作宾语时, 代词必须放在turn off的中间。10. wool(l)en/wulEn/adj. 羊毛的；毛织的Which would you like, the cotton one or the woollen one? 你喜欢哪一个, 纯棉的还是纯毛的？T
13、he woollen sweater looks very beautiful.这件羊毛衫看起来很美。n. wool: 羊毛(不可数名词)如：We can get wool and mutton from the sheep.从羊身上我们可以得到羊毛和羊肉。This writing brush is made of wool and wood.这支毛笔是由羊毛和木头做的。11. impossible/impRsEbl/adj. 不可能的(无比较等级)(反)possible可能的Nothing in the world is impossible if you set your mind to
14、do it.有志者, 事竟成(用心无难事)。Nothing is impossible to a willing mind.世人无难事, 只怕有心人。12. mind/maind/n. (1)思想；想法；主意I have changed my mind. 我已经改主意了。(2)记忆(不可数名词)You should keep the teachers words in mind.你应该牢记老师的话。A good idea came into his mind. 他突然想到了一个好主意。(3)理智(不可数名词)He lost his mind. 他失去理智了。v. 介意, 反对。常用于疑问句、否
15、定句中。mind+名词/代词Do you mind a little more work? 多做点工作你介意吗？I should not mind a glass of beer. 我倒想喝杯啤酒。mind+if从句Do you mind if I open the window? 我打开窗你介意吗？注意：mind后不能跟动词不定式。mind+动词的ing形式用来客气地提出请求。如：Do/Would you mind taking these books to the classroom? 把这些书带到教室里去你介意吗？mind+sb. s+动词的ing形式用来提出询问, 征求对方的意见。如：Do/Would you mind my/me opening the window? 我打开窗你介意吗？在回答mind的问句时如表示“同意”, 可用“No, not at all. ”“不介意”。如表示反对, 要用“Ye
