5、anksgivingtraditionofpassionandhumilitydatesbacktotheearliestdaysofoursociety.andthroughtheyears,ourdeepestgratitudehasoftenbeeninspiredbythemostdifficulttimes.almostfourcenturiesago,thepilgrimssetasidetimetothankgodaftersufferingthroughabitterwinter.georgewashingtonheldthanksgivingduringatryingstay
6、atvalleyforge.andpresidentlincolnrevivedthethanksgivingtraditioninthemidstofacivilwar. thepastyearhasbroughtmanychallengestoournation,andamericanshavemeteveryonewithenergy,optimismandfaith.afterliftingoureconomyfromarecession,manufacturersandentrepreneursarecreatingjobsagain.volunteersfromacrothecou
7、ntrycametogethertohelphurricanevictimsrebuild.andwhenthechildrenofbeslan,russiasufferedabrutalterroristattack,theworldsawamericasgenerousheartinanoutpouringofpassionandrelief. thegreatestchallengesofourtimehaveetothemenandwomenwhoprotectournation.werefortunatetohavededicatedfirefightersandpoliceoffi
