1、Literary GenresWhatisGenre?Genre-acategory,inliteratureorothermedia,characterizedbysimilaritiesinform,style,orsubjectmatter.Forexample,sciencefictionandfantasyaretwodifferentgenresinliterature.Why recognizing genres is important?(1)Onthesimplestlevel,groupingworksoffersusanorderlywaytotalkaboutanoth

2、erwisebewilderingnumberofliterarytexts.(2)Moreimportantly,ifwerecognizethegenreofatext,wemayalsohaveabetterideaofitsintendedoverallstructureandsubject/mainidea.(3)Finally,agenreapproachcandeepenoursenseofthevalueofanysingletext,byallowingustoviewitcomparatively,alongsidemanyothertextsofitstype.All c
