4、the world and called himself the empire of the son（日不落帝国） .we can say the Britain used the sterling instead of force to conquer （征服）the world.The pound has been the worlds most important international means of payment and reserve currency (支付和贮藏货币)until the early 20th century，after the World War the states of pound tended to decline because of gradual appreciation（增值） of the dollarSterling is the British national currency, although the UK is the EUs member states, but they did not joined the euro zone(欧元区)，so it still uses pounds.
