7、TheleaderoftheTaiwanauthoritiestriestoblocktheopeningofthethreedirectlinksacrosstheTaiwanStraits,andhastakenmeasurestorestrictthedevelopmentofcross-Straitseconomictiesandtrade.ThisdoesnogoodtoTaiwanseconomicdevelopment,anditunderminestheinterestsofpeopleinTaiwan.TheleaderoftheTaiwanauthoritiesdecide

8、dtoceasetheoperationoftheNationalUnificationCouncilandceasetheapplicationoftheNationalUnificationGuidelines.Hewasbrazenlyprovocativeovertheone-Chinaprinciple,andseriouslyunderminedpeaceandstabilityintheTaiwanStraits.Hismovesareextremelyadventurous,dangerousanddeceptive.Weneedtostayalerttothefactthat

9、theyarenowintensifyingtheireffortstopursuesecessionistactivitiesandso-calledTaiwanindependence.Theyarealsogoingallouttopursuetheirgoalofso-calleddejureTaiwanindependencethroughtheso-calledconstitutionalre-engineering.Ourcommitmenttotheone-Chinaprinciplehasbeenconsistentandclear.Thatistosay,thereison

10、lyoneChinaintheworld.BothsidesoftheTaiwanStraitsbelongtotheoneandthesameChina.Chinassovereigntyandterritorialintegrityshouldalwaysbeintact.Iwouldliketotaketheopportunitytoreiteratethatnomatterwhateverpartyaffiliationstheymayhave,nomatterwhotheyare,nomatterwhattheysaidordidinthepast,aslongastheyareco

11、mmittedtotheone-Chinaprinciple,wearereadytohavedialogueandnegotiationswiththem,evenincludingthosepeoplefromtheDemocraticProgressivePartyinTaiwan.Aslongasthatpartyiswillingtogiveupitsplatformfortheso-calledTaiwanindependence,wearewillingandreadytomakepositiveresponsestotheirmovesandwearewillingtohave

20、it,whichis200kmfromthemoonssurface,forscientificexplorations.ChangeI,namedafteralegendaryChinesegoddesswhoflewtothemoon,blastedoffonaLongMarch3AcarrierrocketonOctober24fromtheXichangSatelliteLaunchCenterinsouthwesternSichuanProvince.TheprobecompleteditsfourthorbitaltransferonOctober31,whichshiftedit

21、totheearth-moontransferorbitandpushedittoflytothemooninarealsense.Thenitfliedanother114hourstoarriveattheperilune200kmawayfromthemoon.Itwaspreviouslymovingaroundtheearthandexperiencedthreeorbitaltransfers,whichlifteditupfirsttoa16-hourorbitwithanapogeeof50,000km,thentoa24-hourorbitwithanapogeeof70,0

22、00kmandnexttoa48-hourorbitwithanapogeeofmorethan120,000km.OnNovember2,BACCsuccessfullycarriedoutanorbitalcorrectionforChangeItoensurethatittraveledonthepre-setorbit.AsecondorbitalcorrectionscheduledforNovember3wascalledoffbecauseitwasunnecessary-ChangeIhadbeenrunningaccuratelyontheexpectedtrajectory

23、,aBACCscientistsaid.The2,350-kgsatellitecarriedeightprobingfacilities,includingastereocameraandinterferometer,animagerandgamma/x-rayspectrometer,alaseraltimeter,amicrowavedetector,ahighenergysolarparticledetectorandalowenergyiondetector.Theultravioletimagesensors,putintoactualuseonasatelliteforthefi

24、rsttime,hasbegunworkingsinceOctober30tocollectinformationonboththeearthandthemoon.ChangeIisexpectedtorelaythefirstpictureofthemooninlateNovember.Itwillfulfilfourscientificobjectives,includingathree-dimensionalsurveyoftheMoonssurface,analysisoftheabundanceanddistributionofelementsonlunarsurface,aninv

25、estigationofthecharacteristicsoflunarregolithandthepowderysoillayeronthesurface,andanexplorationofthecircumstancebetweentheearthandthemoon.Chinaslunarorbiterprojecthascost1.4billionyuan(US$187million)sinceresearchanddevelopmentoftheprojectwasapprovedatthebeginningof2004.Thelaunchoftheorbiterkicksoff

26、thefirststepofChinasthree-stagemoonmission,whichwillleadtoamoonlandingandlaunchofamoonroverataround2012.Inthethirdphase,anotherroverwilllandonthemoonandreturntoearthwithlunarsoilandstonesamplesforscientificresearchataround2017.ChinacarriedoutitsmaidenpilotedspaceflightinOctober2003,makingitonlytheth

27、irdcountryintheworldaftertheformerSovietUnionandtheUnitedStatestohavesentmenintospace.InOctober2005,Chinacompleteditssecondmannedspaceflight,withtwoastronautsonboard.ThelaunchofChangeIcameshortlyafterJapanlauncheditsfirstlunarprobe,Kaguya,inmid-September,whileIndiaisplanningtosenditsownlunarprobeint
