54、putersimulations.Itwaspreciselythosebackwardresearchconditionsandthelackofchallengingprojectsthatpromptedmetogeneratetheideaofseekingfurtherstudiesabroad.Ibelievedthatthestatusquowouldimposeseriousrestrictionsonthedevelopmentofmyintellectualcapacitiesandontheexploitationofmyacademicpotential.Butfort

59、dinrealscientificresearch.WhenIseehowmyinspirationsturnintorealityinthelaboratory,onceagainforthefirsttimeinmylifeIfeelthatIamcreatingakindofwealthfarmorepreciousandvaluablethanmoneyknowledge.IrealizedthatIhadmadeanabsolutelycorrectdecisiontocometotheUnitedStates.AttheCenterofNanostructureMaterialsa
60、ndQuantumDeviceFabricationandElectroOpticalResearchCenter,Ihavedonetwoyearscourseworkandoneyearandhalflabresearch.Theyhavesignificantlyenhancedmyabilitytosolveresearchproblemsindependently.Sincelastyear,IhaveconductedextensiveexperimentsinthefieldofnanotechnologyandSemiconductorandoptoelectronicelem
61、ents.AlthoughtheapproachesandsolutionsIgenerateduringthoseexperimentsfrequentlydifferfromthoseofmysupervisorsinmanyimportantaspects,Ihavemeritedpositivecommentsfromhim.Iamfullyconfidentthatbytheendofthisyearmyresearcheffortswouldcomeintofullfruition.Nevertheless,Istillfeeldiscontented.Inretrospect,I
62、developedacommitmenttoscientificresearchveryearlyandhaveperseveredunderthespiritofthiscommitment.AftermyarrivalintheUnitedStates,Irealizedthatthereistremendousresearchpotentialinmetobetapped.AllIneedtodoistofindanappropriateacademicenvironment.EvenUTAdisappointsmeinthatIhavebeenkeptwaitingfornearlyf
63、ouryearbeforeIcouldembarkonamajorresearchprojectthatpromisesimportantresearchfindings.IhavecometotheconclusionthatwhetherinChinaorintheUnitedStatesitissimplyawasteoftimepassivelywaitingforresearchprojects.Consequently,thebestcourseofactionformetotakeistopursueseekaPh.D.programatoneofthetopAmericanun
