When (While) we were at school, we went to the library every day. when 从句的谓语动词可以在主句谓语动作之前、之后或同时发生； while 和 as 从句的谓语动作必须是和主句谓语动作同时发生。While 表示时间段 ,因此， while 从句的谓语动词要用延续性动词。如：Please dont talk so loud while others are working. As 与 when 用法相似，但着重强调主句动作与从句动作同时发生，

11、表示数量的多少时 ，名词前用 so。如：She made so many mistakes that she didnt pass the exam. so that 既可以引导目的状语从句又可以引导结果状语从句引导目的状语从句时可译为为了 ,引导结果状语从句时可译为以便 如I speak loudly so that all the students can hear me clearly.(目的状语从句 ) Maria likes the woolen dress so that she decides to buy it immediately .( 结果状语从句 ) (1) so th
12、at引导目的状语从句时表示“ 以便为了从句中常使用 can /could /may /might /will /would /should 等情态动词或助动词引导结果状语从句时从句中一般不用 can和 may 等词。(2)So that引导的目的状语从句之前不用逗号而 so that引导的结果状语从句与主句之间往往有逗号相隔开即略作停顿意思是 “ 因此;所以” 。请比较He worked hard at his lessons so that he could gain high grades in the exams.他努力学习功课争取考试能获得好成绩。He worked hard at h
