So many people think that there are hundreds of sharks waiting in the sea to attack them.J: Are
16、 they right to think that?D: No, not at all. The chance of being bitten by a shark is extremely small. Throughout the world we know of only a few people who were killed by sharks each year. Now think of the millions of swimmers, surfers, snorkellers and divers that go into the sea! It really shows t
17、hat sharks are not interested in attacking us.J: Really?D: Yes. The truth is that its the sharks that need to be protected. 20、re about 15 years old; the young take about 14 months to develop before they are born; and they only have 7 to 9 young. So shark populations grow at a slow rate.J: OK, so what should we do?D: I think governments around the world should take action. They should reduce fishing for sharks and protect the most endangered species. Otherwise they will die out. Sharks have been on this planet for 400 million years and it would be terrible if they disappear because of us.J: Yes, indeed it would.
