6、han连用。如：My father is two years older than my mother. 我爸爸比我妈妈大两岁。His watch is older than mine. 他的手表比我的旧。 elder 特指兄弟姐妹中的长者，只能指人，不能指物，也不能与than连用构成比较级，通常只作前置定语。另外，elder还可用作名词，意思是“长辈、年长者”，复数形式elders泛指“长者或长辈”。如：My elder brother is a Chinese teacher. 我哥哥是个语文教师。We should be polite to our elders. 我们应该对长辈有礼貌。
7、2. instead / instead of instead 是副词，作状语，可置于句首，用逗号分开，也可置于句末，常译为“代替、顶替、相反、却”等，有时也可不译出来，但它总表示一种转折关系。用instead时，被代替（或否定）的对象是在前一句已经替代的。如：He didnt stay at home. Instead, he went to school. 他没有待在家里，相反他上学去了。She is tired. Let me go instead. 她累了，让我（代她）去吧。 instead of 是介词短语，后接名词、代词或动词-ing形式等，根据情况可译为“代替、取代、而不是”等，
