First I will ask some of you to answer the questions in Activity 14 on Page 120. Suggested answers:1. A “space tourist” is a person who

5、would pay to spend time in outer space on a spacecraft.2. Because the tickets are very expensive and few people can afford it.3. Because it landed for the second time after flying to the edge of space.4. No. Unlike rockets, which can be used only once, it can be used again and again.5. We passengers

8、a-half hour trip on a spacecraft. I would do something instructive and meaningful. Maybe, I would build a school for the poor children in the poverty-stricken areas. Or, I would award the scientists who made great contribution to curing deadly diseases.For question 2: S3: Passengers who would travel

9、 on SpaceShipOne should have a medical exam to make sure that they are healthy and fit enough to take the trip.S4: Passengers who would travel on SpaceShipOne also should have a special training so that they can know how to deal with the weightless conditions. Before they start the trip they need ex

10、perimental flights as well.For question 3: S5: Yes. Because more and more people are interested in space trips, the space tourism will bring a lot of money. S6: If I were the leader of a government, I would not spend money developing space travel, because there are more important things to do, such

I am not feeling this way.Step Grammar (1)Features of noun clausesAsk the students to do Activit

13、y 1 in groups of four. Encourage the students to sum up the functions and features of noun clauses. T: For this class, we will focus on noun clauses. Please open your books to Page 60. Now practice Activity 1 in groups of four, work together and try to sum up the functions and features of noun claus

14、es and then report them to the class. A few minutes later, ask the group leaders to report their summaries. At the same time, collect the information on the blackboard.T: Would any of the group representatives like to report your summary?S: Id like to have a try. After the discussion, we think that

15、a noun clause can be the subject, such as in Sentences 1 and 3. Second, a noun clause can be the object of a sentence, such as in Sentences 4 and 5. Third, a noun clause can begin with a question word, such as in Sentence 6. Fourth, a noun clause can follow the verb be, such as in Sentence 6. Fifth,

16、 a noun clause must include a verb, we can see from the underlined clauses in Activity 1. Practice & summary of the functions of NCAsk the students to do Activity 2 individually. After that check the answers with the whole class and do some extra exercises. At last ask the students to summarize the functions of noun clauses.T: Now lets do Ac
