2、ciety.However,thepresentsituationisdisaccordwithwhattheAmericanconstitutionhadadvocated,”Allmenarecreatedequal”,andtheracialdiscriminationstillexisttoday.Inthecontemporarysociety,itisnecessaryforustomakeathoroughunderstandingoftheproblemofracialdiscriminationinAmerica.Iwouldliketoanalyzethereasonsof
3、theracialdiscriminationinAmericafromthreeaspects.MainbodyThereasonsoftheracialdiscriminationinAmerica1.TheinfluenceofAmericanhistoryAmericahasalwaysbeenknownasanationofimmigrants.EffectofimmigrationonUSAmaybemoreimportantthananyothercountriesintheworld.JustasPresidentCarterputitin1980:Ourstrengthlie
4、sinhertheheartsofpeopleandrichculturaldiversity.”ThreetimesofAmericanimmigrationinthehistorybroughtdifferentracialandethnicgroupstoAmerica,whichdirectlyledtodiversificationofthepopulation.Alongwiththepopulationdiversity,ethnicconflictbetweenthenewlyarrivedimmigrantsandAboriginesappeared:inthesouth,i
5、nordertomeettheneedsofplantationdevelopment,alargenumberofblackpeoplefromSouthAfricawereshippedformanuallabor,andthediscriminationagainstblackswasfromthenon.Alargenumberofimmigrantsnotonlyprovidedlaborforce,butalsobroughtnewskillsandnewtechnologytoacceleratetheindustrialization.Thethreebigwavesofimm
6、igrants,Americapopulationwasincreasingatanalarmingrate,thecompositionofthepopulationwasmorediverse,andthatalsoinevitablyexacerbatedracialtensions.2.TherootsofAmericanculturalAsmentionedabove,USAiscomposedofpeopleofdifferentnationalities.Everynationalityhasitreligion,belief,lifestyleandvalues,andthes
7、ebelongtothecategoryofculture.Differentculturesgettogetherandcollidehere,tocoexistandgraduallytoreachacompromise.Finallymergeintoanewculture-Americanuniqueculture.Butinfact,thiscompromiseishardtoachieve,becauseitisalmostimpossiblefortwoabsolutelydifferentculturestocompletelyfusion.Sometheoriessugges
8、tthattheminorityculture(includingattitudes,valuesandlanguage)istheirbarriersforsuccessfulsocialcompetition,soperhapsthisisindeedoneofthereasonsthattheycannotenterthemainstreamculturewhichthewhitedominated.Asaresult,USAgovernmentsatalllevelsandallleadersoverwhelminglyarethewhite.Americanpolitical,eco
9、nomic,military,culturalandotherfieldsofpowerareinthehandsofthewhitehands,thisisanundeniablefact.2.ThecausesofAmericansocialstructureThethirdcauseofracialdiscriminationistheAmericansocialstructure,thatmainlyreferstothedominationandoppressionofminoritiesinthesocialpoliticaleconomicsystem.Butcomparedwi
10、ththe-g、individualdiscriminationagainsttheminorities,itismoresevere.Fromtheverybeginning,theblackwasconsideredinferior,andlaws,customs,traditionalmadethesituationworsethereafter.Forexample,whenapersonusedNegro,Niggertoexpresshisfeelings,hedidntmeantoinsultablack,butaccidentallyrevealedhisbiastowardb
11、lack.Althoughthisisonlythelanguageitself,butfromtheexample,wecanseeclearlytheexistinglanguage,customs,laws,faithdenyminorityshouldbeequal,andthebiasissubconscious.Werecognizethatthisdiscriminationhasitshistoricalroots,buttheexistingsocialsystemdoesnoteliminatethiskindofdiscrimination.Sowithouttheref
12、ormofsocialsystem,itisdifficultto-g*!*!eliminatetheinstitutionaldiscrimination.ConclusionFromthediscoveryoftheAmericancontinenttothefoundingoftheU.S.asanindependentnation,andfromthefirstsettlersexplorationoftheNewWorldtotodaysflourishingU.S.asaworldsuperpower,theracialdiscriminationproblemhaseverremainedconcerntoAmericansociety.Suchsystemsaspolitics,economy,culture,ect.arereallyimprovedracialdiscriminationcouldbedispelledtomakesurethatvariousnationalitiesareequallytreated.
