2、shopkeeper with a gun.固定搭配：threaten to do sth. 威胁着要去做某事/ 某事可能发生4. surrounding adj. 附近的，周围的；周围环境词汇链接：surrounding n. 周围环境surround v. 环绕，围绕5. flood n. 洪水 v. 充满词汇用法：flood 在做洪水讲的时候，一定要用复数floods6. spray v.喷洒；喷水词汇链接：sprayer n. 喷雾器 7. quantity n. 量固定搭配： a quantity of 一些，可修饰可数和不可数名词 a great quantity of 许多 in
3、 quantity 大量地 adv. 8. root n. & v. 根，祖籍e.g.: They have their roots here in China.词汇链接：root 动词，植根于take root 生根，成形e.g.: The idea began to take root in my mind.三 Structure. 1. Firemen had been fighting the forest fire for nearly three weeks.课文解析：此句为过去完成进行时，表示过去的过去持续的一个动作，动词需为延续性动词2. A short time ago, g
4、reat tress had covered.课文解析：此处用了great 表达大，但是有一种惋惜的感情在里面，引出后面的课文内容3. Winter was coming on and the hills threatened the surrounding villages with destruction, for heavy rain would not only wash away the soil but would cause serious floods as well. 课文解析：come on 来临（短暂动词的进行时表将来：即将来临）。e.g.: Spring is comi
5、ng on, and you can just feel it from the air. for引导原因状语从句not onlybut as well要比not only.but also.用的漂亮；且这组连词带出了heavy rain的两个并列谓语wash away 和causewash away 表示“冲掉，冲走，冲刷”。e.g.: She rushed into the bathroom and washed away her tears.threaten.with.威胁着要去做某事可替换成threaten to do 4. 6、ground in huge quantities by aeroplanes.课文解析：in huge quantities 大量地，相当于 a large quantity of 或者quantities of。在此句中修饰动词sprayed 5.In place of the great trees which had been growing there for centuries, patches of green had begun to appear in the blackened soil.课文解析：in place of the great.centuries 做主语补足语
7、patch 这个词在这里用得非常形象，因为它体现的是颜色和周围的不均匀，强调了一片一片的绿色与黑色的大地的对比。blackened为过去分词，作形容词用，表示烧黑了的，强调了这个动作的结果。形容词+en=动词，意思是使具备特点。short +en=shorten 缩短，使短 soft +en=soften 软化，使软wide +en=widen 拓宽，使宽 straight + en= straighten 简化，使直接此处in place of 可替换成instead of四 Grammar. 1过去完成时与过去完成进行时的区别 过去完成进行时表示在过去某一时间前一直在进行的动作，动作可能还
