Those trying to have good careers are going to fail, because, really, good jobs are now disappeari ng. There are great jobs and great careers, and then there a

3、re the high-workload, high-stress, bloodsucking, soul-destro ying kinds of jobs, and practically nothing in betwee n.So the people look ing for good jobs are goingto fail. Im going to talk about thoselook ing for great jobs, great careers, and why youre going to, whyyoure going to fail.First reason

4、is that no matter how many times people tell you, If you want a great career, you have to pursue your passi on, you have to pursue your dreams, you have to pursue, the greatest fasci natio n in your life, you hear it aga in and aga in and the n you decide not to do it. It does nt matter how many tim

Youre afraid if you look for your passi on and dont find it, youll feel like youre an idiot, so then you

Were going to go through a whole long list, your creativity, and thinking of excuses not to do what you really n eed to do if you want to have a great career. |So, for example, one of your g

7、reat excuses is, Well, great careers are really and truly, for most people, just a matter of luck, so rm going to sta nd around, Im going to try to be lucky, and if rm luck y, Ill have a great career. If not,门I have a good career. But a good career is an impossibility, so thats not going to work.The

8、n, your other excuse is, Yes, there are special people who pursue their passi ons, but they are geni uses. They are Steve n J. Im not a geni us. When I was five, I thought I was a geni us, but my professors have beate n that idea out of my head long since, And now I know I am completely compete nt.

9、Now, you see, if this was 1950, being completely compete nt, that would have give n you a great career. But guess what? This is almost 2012, and say ing to the world, I am totally, completely compete nt, is damning yourself with the fain test of praise.And the n, of course, ano ther excuse: Well, I

10、would do this, I would do this, but, but, well, after all, Im not weird. Everybody knows that people who pursue their passi ons are somewhat obsessive. A little stra nge? Okay? 11、atpers on. I am n ice. I am no rmal. Im a n ice, no rmal pers on, and ni ce, no rmal people dont have passion. But I still want a great career. Im not prepared to pursue my passion, so I know what rm going to do, because I have, I have a solutio n, I have a strategy. Its the one Mommy and Daddy told

12、 me about. Mommy and Daddy told me that if I worked hard, Id have a good career. So, if you work hard and have a good career, if you work really, really, really hard, youll have a great career. Does nt that, like, mathematically makesen se?Hmm. Not. But youve man aged to talk yourself into that.You

13、know what? Heres a little secret. You want to work? You want to work really, really, really hard? You know what? Youll succeed. The world will give you the opport un ity to work really, really, really, really hard, but are you so sure that thats going to give you a great career whe n all the evide n

Youre trying to find your passi on, and youre so happy. You found somethi ng youre in terested in.I have an in

I have an in terest, you say. Your in terest is compared to what? Well, Im interested in this. And what

16、about the rest of humanitys activities? Im not in terested in them. Youve looked at them all, have you? No. Not exactly.Passi on is your greatest love.
