If for three years he does not alter from the way of his father, he may be called filial.【译】（看一个人孝不孝）父辈在时，我们要观bai察他儿子的志向是否符合正道；父辈不在世时，我们要观察他儿子的举止行为是否符合正道。多年以后他还是坚守父辈的合理的处事准则，没有改变正道的标准，这才可叫做孝道。不患人之不己知，患不知人也。I will not be afflicted at mens not knowing me;

At seventy, I could follow the dictates of my own heart; for what I desired no longer overstepped the boundaries of right.【译】我十五岁就立志学习，三十岁就能有所成就，四十岁遇到事情不再感到困惑，五十岁就知道哪些是不能为人力支配的事情而乐知天命，六十岁时能听得进各种不同的意见，七十岁可以随心所欲(收放自如)却又不超出规矩。贤哉
10、回也!一箪食，一瓢饮，在陋巷，人不堪其忧，回也不改其乐。贤哉回也!Incomparable indeed was Hui! A handful of rice to eat, a gourdful of water to drink, living in a mean street. Others would have found it unendurable depressing, but to Huis cheerfulness it made no difference at all. Incomparable indeed was Hui.【译】颜回的品质是多么高尚啊！一箪饭，一瓢水，
11、住在简陋的小屋里，别人都忍受不了这种穷困清苦，颜回却没有改变他好学的乐趣。颜回的品质是多么高尚啊！知者乐水，仁者乐山。知者动，仁者静。知者乐，仁者寿。The wise find pleasure in water; the virtuous find pleasure in hills. The wise are active; the virtuous are tranquil. The wise are joyful; the virtuous are long-lived.【译】聪明的人喜欢水，仁德的人喜欢山。聪明的人好动，仁德的人恬静。聪明的人快乐，仁德的人长寿。逝者如斯夫，不舍昼夜。
12、It passes on just like this, not ceasing day or night!【译】形容时间像流水飞逝，一去不复返。食不厌精，脍不厌细。He did not dislike to have his rice finely cleaned, nor to have his minced meat cut quite small.【译】形容食物要精制细做。非礼勿视，非礼勿听，非礼勿言，非礼勿动。Look not at what is contrary to propriety; listen not to what is contrary to propriety;
13、speak not what is contrary to propriety; make no movement which is contrary to propriety.【译】不合符礼教的话不能说，不合符礼教的东西不能看，不合符礼教的事不能做。人无远虑，必有近忧。If a man take no thought about what is distant, he will find sorrow near at hand.【译】没有长远的打算，近期的事情就会多有忧虑。君子有三戒。少之时，血气未定，戒之在色。及其壮也，血气方刚，戒之在斗。及其老也，血气既衰，戒之在得。There are
14、three things which the superior man guards against. In youth,when the physical powers, are not yet settled, he guards against lust. When he is strong and the physical powers are full of vigor,heguards against quarrelsomeness.When he is old,and the animal powersare decayed, he guards against covetous
15、ness.【译】君子有三种事情应引以为戒：年少的时候，血气还不成熟，要戒除对万事万物的诱惑；等到身体成熟了，血气方刚，要戒除与人争斗；等到老年，血气已经衰弱了，要戒除贪得无厌。唯女子与小人，为难养也。近之则不逊，远之则怨。Of all people, girls and servants are the most difficult to behave to.If you are familiar with them, they lose their humility. If you maintain a reserve towards them, they are discontented.【译】和那些内心阴险狡诈、卑鄙无耻的人是最难相处的，和他亲近相处时他不懂得谦逊有礼对别人，别人疏远他了，他又有怨恨。
