Ofthetop500,Chinaaccountsfor228,whiletheUnitedStatesaccountsfor117, presentinganabsoluteleadingadvantageovertheUnitedStates. Fromtheperspectiveofcomputingpower,theUnitedStatesis

16、stillatthetopofthe list.Amongthetop500,theUnitedStatesaccountsfor37.1%ofthetotalcomputing performance,whileChinaaccountsfor32.3%.However,thegapbetweenthesetwo countriesisshrinking. Nowadays,oneofthebiggestchallengesfacedbysupercomputingispowerconsumption.Theworldsfastestpetascalecomputerrequires28.3megawattstorun.Asforanexascalecomputer,it mightrequire30to50megawattsofpowertooperate,whichequalstothepowerconsumedbythesumofresidentialbuildingsofatownof50,000to70,000people.Thecostofelectricityishig
