Stress, depression, and anger may lead to failure and illness. On the other hand, a positive attitude and strong confidence may bring about hap

2、piness, success and good health. There are many things that influence the emotional state, but the most important one is how you regard yourself. If you have a healthy level of self-esteem, it is easier to cope with lifes difficulties than it is for people with low self-esteem. A healthy self-esteem

3、 will probably make you more content, confident and successful. Good self-esteem gives you the courage to try new things as well as the power to believe in yourself. It lets you respect yourself, and, consequently, you are respected by others. You are probably also healthier by being full of self-co

4、nfidence. Studies show that people with positive self-esteem suffer less from colds and even heart disease. On the other hand, people who always live with anxiety and depression are more likely to suffer from such diseases.,课文,Our self-esteem mainly begins early in life from the messages given by pa

5、rents, teachers and later, our spouse. The way our boss treats us and our relationship with friends and many other people all contribute to our self-esteem. Love, acceptance, appreciation can all have a powerful effect on a persons self-esteem. But, we also judge ourselves by our sense of how effect

6、ively we are managing in the world, especially in the areas of love and work. When things are doing well, we tend to have a good sense of self-worth, but during the difficult times and periods of great change, its easy to feel less confident. If you feel your self-esteem being eroded, you will need

7、to try to find a way to repair the damage. One method is to think about all the good things that are happening in your life. For example, if you feel you are not doing well in a certain job, you may think about some of the successful roles you have played. You may not be a good “salesman”, but you c

8、an base your sense of self-worth on being a great “cook”, or a good “father”. Find that “something” which you can take pride in and use it to renew your confidence.,Do not set too high a goal that might be impractical for you to achieve. Focus on activities that really interest you and those which y

9、ou are most capable of. Once you succeed, do not forget to reward yourself! As you succeed, step by step, you will get a sense of satisfaction at the same time as you rebuild your confidence. Do not become despondent when things dont go as you wish, divert your attention to something else and put the problem aside for the time being.
