1、Partnership GovernorsThis category of governor only exists in foundation schools that have no foundation (all of the current foundation schools in Torbay) and governors serving in this category are intended to represent the wider community. Partnership governors are appointed by the governing body,

2、which must seek nominations from the parents of registered pupils at the school and such others in the community as it considers appropriate. Partnership governor appointments are made by a decision at a full governing body meeting following a nomination process that includes seeking nominations fro

3、m parents. Before appointing partnership governors, the governing body should: determine all necessary arrangements for all matters relating to the nomination and appointment of partnership governors take reasonable steps to ensure that every parent is aware that they can make nominations and the pr

4、ocedure for so doing; seek nominations from parents of pupils at the school and any other persons in the community served by the school in an appropriate way. Some schools advertise their partnership vacancies in local papers. The appointment can only be made at a (quorate) full governing body meeti

5、ng. Anyone nominated must come from the community served by the school and be committed to the good governance and success of the school. An individual can self nominate or be nominated. Only if insufficient nominations are received from the parents or the community served by the school can serving

6、governors make nominations themselves. Once a decision about a candidate has been made, if a nomination from the parents or the community is not successful but a nomination from a governor is, then the governing body needs to give a reason for that to the nominee and the LA. The partnership category

7、 can be used to retain someone who has ceased to be eligible for appointment or election in another category. There are some restrictions about who is eligible to serve in this category: parents of pupils at the school, anyone eligible to be a staff governor, elected members of the LA, employees of

8、the LA in posts connected with education functions or registered pupils, are not eligible for appointment as a partnership governor. The clerk must ensure that the governor completes a self declaration of eligibility Form PD/SD, with evidence of identity and address if required, and writes a letter

9、of appointment or re-appointment to the sponsor governor. The term of office begins the day the Governing Body agreed the appointment or the date when the self declaration and original evidence has been supplied, if later. The clerk should ensure that Form L is completed and sent to Governing Body S

10、upportAppointment of Partnership Governors: process to follow when a vacancy occursA current partnership governor is nearing the end of their term of officeA current partnership governor resigns before the end of their term of officeThe size of the governing body has changed (as a result of changing

11、 the Instrument of Government) and an additional partnership governor is requiredAt least three months before the end of the governors term of office the clerk will ask if s/he wishes to be considered for a further term.Governing Body informs parents of vacancy and publicises the vacancy in the scho
