3、actersinthenovel.Thenovelconcernstheconsequencecausedbythesinandpeoplesattitudetowardssinratherthanthesinitself.Hebelievesmancandogooddeedstogetridofevilinhisheart.Theintroductionoftheauthor:Hawthornewasbornin1804,thetownofSalem,Massachusetts,adeclineoffamily.HisPuritanancestorshadparticipatedinthep
4、ersecutionofhereticswasanevent.Hawthornesfatherwasacaptain,inhisdeathatage4.1821,becauseofHawthornerelativesisfundingintotheInstituteofHakata.Hegraduatedfromtheschoolin1825.BacktotheSalemTownheworksinwriting.HawthornesshortstoriesaremostlydrawnfromtheNewEnglandhistoryorreallife,focusingonthefateofhu
5、manityandhumanproblems.TheScarletLetterwaswrittenin1851.AreasonabledescriptionofmarriagebytheyoungwomanboundfortheCalvinistsareguiltyofadulterywasprohibitedpublicdisplay,exposedthesystemwasundertheruleofcolonialpoliticsandreligioninsomeofthedarkness.19th-centurynovelrevealstheeraofcapitalistdevelopm
