4、halfyears,moresenioralQaedaleadershavebeeneliminatedthanatanytimesince9/11.Andthankstotheremarkablecourageandprecisionofourforces,wefinallydeliveredjusticetoOsamabinLaden.WevestrengthenedthepartnershipsandtoolsweneedtoprevailinthiswaragainstalQaedaworkingcloserwithalliesandpartners;reformingintellig
5、encetobetterdetectanddisruptplots;investinginourSpecialForcessoterroristshavenosafehaven.Wereconstantlyworkingtoimprovethesecurityofourhomelandaswellatourairports,portsandborders;enhancingaviationsecurityandscreening;increasingsupportforourfirstresponders;andworkingcloserthaneverwithstates,citiesand
6、communities.Adecadeafter9/11,itsclearforalltheworldtoseetheterroristswhoattackedusthatSeptembermorningarenomatchforthecharacterofourpeople,theresilienceofournation,ortheenduranceofourvalues.Theywantedtoterrorizeus,but,asAmericans,werefusetoliveinfear.Yeswefaceadeterminedfoe,andmakenomistaketheywillk
7、eeptryingtohitusagain.Butasweareshowingagainthisweekend,weremainvigilant.Weredoingeverythinginourpowertoprotectourpeople.Andnomatterwhatcomesourway,asaresilientnation,wewillcarryon.Theywantedtodrawusintoendlesswars,sappingourstrengthandconfidenceasanation.ButevenasweputrelentlesspressureonalQaeda,we
8、reendingthewarinIraqandbeginningtobringourtroopshomefromAfghanistan.Becauseafteraharddecadeofwar,itistimefornationbuildinghereathome.Theywantedtodepriveusoftheunitythatdefinesusasapeople.Butwewillnotsuccumbtodivisionorsuspicion.WeareAmericans,andwearestrongerandsaferwhenwestaytruetothevalues,freedom
9、sanddiversitythatmakeusuniqueamongnations.Andtheywantedtoundermineourplaceintheworld.Butadecadelater,weveshownthatAmericadoesnthunkerdownandhidebehindwallsofmistrust.Weveforgednewpartnershipswithnationsaroundtheworldtomeettheglobalchallengesthatnonationcanfacealone.AndacrosstheMiddleEastandNorthAfri
