As a consequence, it is not surprising that a young child never know about how pen repairers to work.As we all know, several jobs disappearing is an inevitable

2、trend in this changing era. Jobs in the past such as repairing pots and running a small store are disappearing, while some jump-up jobs appear on the stage of history. 3、hBlacksmithTimes have changed since Longfellow wrote his poem about the village blacksmith. And so have the jobs people do for a living. Over the last century hundreds of traditional jobs and professions have all but disappeared. The village blacksmith, (or “smith“), is an obvious example. Once the

4、focal point of village life, he made and repaired anything in iron, and did other odd jobs such as shoeing horses; today, there are fewer than a thousand smiths working in Britain. MilkmanTwenty years or so ago the milkman was still a familiar sight in the early morning, delivering milk door to door

5、 on his electrically -powered “float“. But since then demand has dropped by over 60 per cent. People who want milk delivered today can order it on the Internet with the rest of their groceries from the local supermarket. MilkmanTruck drivers who transport milk from a farm to a milk processing plant

6、are also known as milkmen. Raw milk is picked up daily, or every other day.1Milk deliveries frequently occur in the morning and it is not uncommon for milkmen to deliver products other than milk such as eggs, cream, cheese, butter, yogurt or soft drinks.Originally, milk needed to be delivered to hou

7、ses daily since the lack of good refrigeration meant it would quickly spoil. The near-ubiquity of refrigerators in homes in the developed world, as well as improved packaging, has decreasedMilkmanthe need for frequent milk delivery over the past half- century and made the trade shrink in many locali

8、ties sometimes to just 3 days a week and disappear totally in others. Additionally, milk delivery incurs a small cost on the price of dairy products that is increasingly difficult to justify and leaves delivered milk in a position where it is vulnerable to theft.Seamstresses(Tailor)A tailor is a per

9、son who makes, repairs, or alters clothing professionally, especially suits and mens clothing.Famous fictional tailors include the tailor in The Tailor of Gloucester, The Emperors New Clothes and The Valiant Little Tailor. A more recent example is John le Carrs The Tailor of Panama.Seamstresses(Tail

10、or)In the old days,many elderly and middle-aged women from poverty-stricken families earned money by sewing and mending material and clothing.In rural areas,most of the tailors customers were single men.While the women mended the clothes,the men enjoyed themselves smoking,drinking tea,and chatting w

11、ith others.When the mens trousers were worn out near the bottom,the women would sew tow patches,which were shaped like sesame-aeed cakes,onto them,Very often,when other parts of the trousers wore out,the two “cakes”were still in fairly good shape.Now only a few seamstraesses can be found inSeamstres

12、ses(Tailor)some of Chinas remote mountain villages.Some of the women sell their products,such as shoe pads,cloth socks and cloth shoes,with soles made of many layers of cloth stitched together.The products,which are pieced together with rags,are both beautiful and durable,and,as a result,they are po

13、pular especislly among low-income people.Now,many seamstresses go to train or bus stations in urban areas to solicit business.They offer to help the tourists whose clothes are torn,or whose belts,on the bagggage,are broke.Boat trackerBoat trackers(纤夫) refer to those who track or row the boat for oth

14、ers and take it as a profession(a profession is a type of job that requires advanced education or training). When the carrying of a whole set of things such as coal, lumbers, agricultural and sideline products as well as daily commodities greatly relied on water transportation, boat trackers played

15、a key role at that particular time.They would bend their body and drag the halter through their back with great effort to move along. Apart from tracking the boat, they also chanted the boatman work song with their hoarse voice. The song features no words but the sound like: “hey, heyBoat trackeryo

16、yo, hehey, tuo (meaning dragging) ya, tuo, tuotuotuo .“. Whenever the boat was forging against the current or facing dangerous shoals and waters, it depended a lot on the united efforts of all the boat trackers with their song resounding in the empty valley(a valley is a low stretch of land between hills, especially one that has a river flowing through it).
