、Service Information Center Models 921, 931, 922, 932, 9A2, 9B2 Release 4.3.6Exchange the battery module setUse approved ESD procedures to prevent damage.Attention: This is not a stand-alone procedure. Customer disruption and damage to the hardware might occur if microcode and power boundaries are no

、t in the proper conditions for this service action. If you were sent here by a serviceable event FRU repair, the microcode and power boundaries have already been set. If you were not sent here by a serviceable event FRU repair, see MAP1230 Replace a FRU without using a serviceable event.Notes: All t

、he cables and FRUs to be removed must be uniquely identified so they can be reinstalled correctly. If an installed earthquake resistance kit prevents you from accessing this FRU, refer to MAP1600. The battery module set contains three battery modules. Each battery module does not exceed the weight t

、o be replaced by a single service provider. All three battery modules must be replaced as a set. You are using this procedure to exchange a battery FRU (battery module set or battery module enclosure). Unless specifically directed by a MAP or next level of support, you must actually replace the FRU

、with a new FRU. Performing a pseudo-repair with an out-of-date or defective FRU, or closing a serviceable event without exchanging the FRU, can result in data loss.Parent topic: Rack power and coolingRelated tasks:How to launch the service information centerRemove the battery module set1. The old ba

、ttery modules being replaced must be returned in the same packing material and strapped to the pallet that the new modules arrived on.2. To locate this FRU, do one of the following and then return here and continue to replace the FRU: If this FRU has a FRU identify indicator, use the FRU identify in

Use the location code, which is listed in MAP1245 F

、inding FRUs using location codes. If there is no FRU identify indicator or location code, you were sent here by an isolation MAP or symbolic FRU procedure. Use the information in that procedure as well as the figures in this procedure to locate the proper part to exchange.3. Most, but not all, FRUs

、have identify indicators. Use the blinking amber FRU identify indicators to ensure that you are working on the correct enclosure and/or FRU. The light path identify LEDs are a hierarchy of LEDs that can identify the rack, enclosure, FRU, and even the FRU connector to which a cable is connected. For

、more information, refer to MAP1240 Locating FRUs using identify indicators.4. If this is an expansion rack and it has old level sheet metal, the sheet metal baffle to the left of the gate and at the bottom of the storage enclosure chassis might need to be removed to allow the gate to swing open. Rem

If the baffle is the new level sheet metal, it has a flexible plastic cutout that bends out of the way when the gate is swung open.Figure 1. Air baffle5. Most likely this error was caused by the cable, not the battery module set. No, go to the next step.Figure
