2、d faithfulness principle. Large number of words and idioms with Chinese characteristics are used in Chinese Foreign Minister Spokespersons Regular Press Conference. Therefore, when translating, not only faithfulness but also the cultural environment and thinking mode of the target readers should be
3、considered . Only in this way can target readers better understand them. Skopos theory puts the skopos principle first. That is, the purpose of the target text is considered first. In order to achieve the purpose, the translators can adjust the language to achieve the purpose, so the translation str

The world is actively understandin

With the improvement of Chinas international status, Chinese Foreign Minister Spokespersons Regular Press Conference has given more and more attention at home and abroad. It is a significant way for China government to release informati
11、on and answer question that public concerns. The conference involves a large number of words with Chinese characteristics, parallelism, etc., so the study of its English translation is very significant. It can help target readers understand the position and attitude of China, and help establish a go
12、od image of China. The purpose of translation determines the quality of translation and translation strategies. 1.2 Literature ReviewSkopos theory originated in the 1970s and was proposed by German scholars Hans Vermee. It was perfected in the 1980s. In his view, translation should based on the cult
13、ural environment of the target language and be as close as possible to the needs of the target language readers.Its development has gone through four stages. The first stage: Katherine Reiss first brought functional category into translation criticism, and developed a translation criticism model. An
14、d she put forward the rudiment of functionalist theory. The second stage: Vermeer put forward skopos theory. It was a theory that freed translation studies from the original-centered theory. In the third stage, Jasta Hotz-Mantari drew lessons from communication and behavior theory, put forward trans
15、lation behavior theory, and further developed functionalist translation theory. The next stage: Christiane Nord made a general summary and perfected the functionalist theory. In the 1990s, skopos theory was in the embryonic stage in China. Xue Siliang translated three academic papers written by Hans
16、 Vermee. He systematically introduced functionalist skopos theory and laid the necessary theoretical foundation for the development of skopos theory in the 21st century in China.
