1、TEACHING DESIGNS FOR UNIT FOUR EARTHQUAKE (MODUEL 1) Kou jian rong Shouguang city Shandong Province,教学目标: 1、本单元的主题是“地震”。要求学生了解地震的成因,预兆,地震造成的 损失,地震时的应急救生以及震后的救援。 2、本单元的语法是熟练运用that, which, who, whose引导的定语从句。 3、学会写过去的经历,如新闻报道等。 教学过程:本单元分为5个课时, 大体安排如下: Period 1: Warming up and Reading Period 2: Words. E

2、xpressions and sentences Period 3: Grammar :The Attributive Clsuses Period 4: Listening and Speaking Period 5: Reading and Writing,Period 1 Warming up and Reading Warming up :(15) Before this period the Ss have previewed the passage . So at the beginning of this period ,I will show some pictures to

3、the Ss and ask them to say something about the pictures. These pictures shows the disaster or the terrible damage to the railways ,roads ,buildings ,bridges and so on,Ask the Ss to answer the following questions , they can work in groups and have a discussion. Questions: Do you know anything about T

4、angshan Earthquake in 1976? 2. Do you know what happened before an earthquake? 3. What can we do to keep ourselves safe from an earthquake,3minutes later collect the answers on the blackboard (10) 1. 1)We know Tangshan earthquake happened on July 28,1976. 2)It was the greatest earthquake of 20th cen

5、tury in China. 3)Thousands of thousands of people became homeless in a short time. 4)Before the earthquake , many strange things happened but people thought little of them. 5)Such a great number of people died during the earthquake , because the quake happened while they were sleeping . In order to

6、answer question 2 the Ss can look at the pictures on Page25 2. 1)There is often a great sound before an earthquake. 2)Animals may be too nervous to eat. 3)Maybe there are bright lights in the sky. 4)A smelly gas may come out of the well. 5)In the city the water pipes in some buildings crack and burs

7、t. 3.1)We can make the houses as strong as possible , weak buildings will fall down in an earthquake , but strong ones may stay up,1. Let the Ss read the passage quickly and silently and do exercise/ on Page 27 . 7minutes later check the answers. 2. Read the passage again and learn about the main id

8、ea of the whole passage and each paragraph Earthquakes are terribly destructive to people and property (Main idea) Paragraph One : natural signs before earthquake. Paragraph Two and Three: terrible destruction. Paragraph Four : rescue and help,3.Read the passage a third time this time talk about the

9、 following questions. 1.What natural signs of a coming disaster were there? 2.What events probably made the disaster worse? 3.How were the survivors helped? Ask some Ss to speak out their answers , certainly they can use the sentences in the text . The rest time ask the Ss to discuss the difficult s

10、entences with the help of teacher, at the same time ask them to pay attention to the important sentences,The important sentences: But the one million people of the city , who thought little of these events , went to bed as usual that night. 但是,唐山市的一百万居民几乎都没有把这些情况当一回事,当天晚上照常 上床睡觉了。 2.In fifteen terri

12、pped and to bury the dead. 军队组成小分队,将受困的人们挖出来,将死者埋掉。 6.All hope was not lost. 不是所有的希望都破灭了,Homework (自习安排) 找出文中的含有生词的句子 进行熟记,Period 2 Words.Expressions and Sentences 处理单词、短语和句子。 本单元要求掌握的单词有35个,短语6个,除了right away , at an end , dig out , a great number of , give out , thousands of, 另外还有as usual , think l

13、ittle of , lie in ruins等。 下节课开始检查,要求同学们对于Reading中含有重点生词和短语的句子的掌握情况, 并就一些重点词、词组进行造句、填空、辨析等方面的练习,让学生能够做到灵活 运用本单元的生词。 如: 1、比较法1.rise(rose , risen)与raise(raised ,raised) rise vi.升起;上升;增长。说明主语自身移向较高位置。 raise vt.举起,提高,抬高,说明主语发出的动作是要作用于其他事物的。 1)The sun in the east and sets in the west.(rises) 2)Heavy rains

14、 the water level.(raised) 3)After the heavy rain ,the river by two feet.(rose) 4)The cyclists hope to money to help thousands of blind children.(raise,2.a great number of 与the number of ,“a number of ”很多,好些,在number 之前可加large ,small ,great 等表示程度,只修饰可数名词,作主语时谓语动词用复数形式。 The number of 表示“的数量”,后接可数名词,作主语

15、时谓语动词用单数而不用复数。 1)The number of the students in the school in creased greatly since 2000.(has;have) 2)A number of students killed in the earthquake.(was ;were) of people came to the meeting from all over the country.(A number;The number) 列举法: 3.give out vt. 分发;发表;公布(消息);放出,发出(声音、光线、气味等) vi.用完,用尽 让学生翻

16、译下列句子:(give out 意思较多,可通过例句让学生体会) 1)The teacher gave out the exam papers to the students.(分发试卷) 2)Hot water gives out steam gas.(放出,发出) 3)The government has given out the news.(公布消息) 4)Our strength has given out. (用完,不用被动) 强化练习: Ex.(2005山东32)What shall we use for power when all the oil in the world has ?
