1、1、 初中为什么要开设外语课？近几十年来,英语的使用日趋广泛。在外交上,它取代了法语;在科学领域,它代替了德语;在医学、电子学、空间技术、国际商业、广告、广播影视等方面,英语已成为占主要地位的语言。全世界的报纸和期刊有一半多用英语出版,3/4的邮件是用英语书写的,刊登在5万多种世界科技期刊的文献有60%用英语发表。社会生活的信息化和经济的全球化，使英语的重要性日益突出。英语作为最重要的信息载体之一，已成为人类生活各个领域中使用最广泛的语言。许多国家在教育发展战略中，都把英语教育作为公民素质教育的重要组成部分，并将其摆在突出的地位，即使现在小学开设有英语课，但学生正式接触系统的英语学习却是在实中

12、hree consonants , vowels and four consonants one .三、新的英语教材有什么特点？重视以人为本，强调素质教育。教材的编写以学生的发展为宗旨，着重培养学生的创新精神和独立思维能力，使学生获得为适应学习化社会所需要的英语基础知识和基本技能，并在学习的基础上了解文化差异，发展健全的人格，培养合作精神和社会公德意识。（二）系列配套。这是一套系列配套教材，它包括学生课本、练习册、教师教学用书、阅读训练、录音磁带分口语（学生版和教师版）和听力两种，VCD、DVD等。（三）重视语言应用。教科书以单元为基础安排教学内容，每一个单元以话题为中心，通过任务设计（tas
13、k based）的形式，开展听、说、读、写的训练，强调对语言的实际运用。 （四）激发兴趣。根据初中学生的身心发展特点安排了富有趣味性的教学内容。就第一册而言，所有插图都改成了孩子们喜爱的卡通画，教科书编排了大量的歌曲、游戏。猜谜、对话、角色扮演等活动。这些活动富于幽默感，能极大地激发和培养学生的学习兴趣。（伍）体现真实。教科书所设计的语言情景，尽可能反映学生的现实生活。如，安排学生通过识别电话号码、传真号码、手机号码、车牌号码、邮政编码来学习英文的阿拉伯数字的表达；通过一张火车票来学习时间、车次、价钱的表达；通过计算机键盘来学习英文的26个字母；对同学做学习情况调查，给同伴介绍自己的家人等。反
14、映时代。时代的发展日新月异。教材的内容尽可能地反映了时代的变化，如网络知识、电子邮件、香港、澳门的地理位置等都体现在课本内容中，在教科书的开始几个单元，通过单词的拼读了解一些经常在报刊上出现的缩略词，如 HK，IBM， ID，PRC，RMB，SAR等。富于启发。新教材鼓励对学生进行启发性教学，培养学生的独立思考与判断能力、丰富的想象力和细致的观察能力。如安排学生观察对比两幅类似的图画，在规则的时间内找出尽可能多的不同之处，或在一幅图内找出尽可能多的单词，或在安排对话时，只提供一个情景，让学生根据情景编造对话等。重视文化。新教材力求通过所编材料给学生提供了解国外文化的机会。通过价值观念、思维模式
