4、ht 1) 表示许可（或征求对方的许可）否定形式may not 表示“不可以,禁止”等意思, 常用mustnt代替，might是过去式。-May I go now ? 我现在可以去吗？-Yes, you may. 是的，你可以。-No, you mustnt. 不，你不可以。（常用）-No, you may not./youd better not.（不常用）She said that I might call her at the weekend.(过去)她说我可以周末给她打电话。2） 表示可能，might 语气更加不肯定。否定形式 may not /might not意为“可能不、或许不”
5、cant表达“不可能”This coat may /might be Toms.这件大衣可能/或许是汤姆的。 This coat may not /might not be Toms.这件大衣可能不是/或许不是汤姆的。 This coat cant be Toms.这件大衣不可能是汤姆的。 3） 表示祝愿 (用于祈使句)May you succeed! 祝你成功！must 1） 必须The work must be finished as soon as possible.工作必须尽早完成。-Must I go home now? 现在我必须回家吗？-Yes, you must.是的，你必须。

(允诺）你过生日会有件新连衣裙。He shall be punished if he breaks the law.(警告
9、)如果他犯了法，他会受到惩罚。 Should 1) 应该 (表示劝告、建议)Young people should respect old people.年轻人应该尊重老年人。You shouldnt keep your promise/word. 你不应该违背你的诺言。ought to do1） 应该 (表示义务、要求或劝告）I ought to tell you something before you leave.在你走之前，我应该告诉你件事。注意：ought to do 和should do 差不多，只是语气稍重些，否定式ought not to do /oughtnt to do ,
